Thanks! Yes i'll be animating everything in flash, alongside the code for buttons - should work ok :)

you can only import a FLV file,
import as timeline in a movie clip symbol,
then you can use Action Scripts to control the movie clip with your buttons.
Response to: Help! Quick Time Events in flash Posted March 4th, 2012 in Game Development

Anyone? :(

I'm planning an interactive group project in Flash - basically i'm planning to have a short animation, roughly two to three minutes - that would also include a couple of Quick Time events, ala' Heavy Rain or God of War.

For instance, one of the planned scenes is to have the main character engage in a duel.

I imagined the sequence to work in this order: As the animation is playing, say the characters begin to duel. At one particular point they 'block' each-others attacks. In this case, the user would need to 'press a button' to 'push' the enemy and continue dueling. Now I imagined that the quick time event button would appear at say 30 seconds into the interactive movie, as the two characters are blocking, and as the timeline moves forward to, say, 35 seconds, the user could press the button to 'win' the particular sequence. If the user does not press the button in the allocated 5 seconds, the timeline would continue playing to show off the 'death sequence.' However, if the user presses the button on time, the timeline would jump off to the 'death of the enemy' sequence, and continue playing off the movie till another quick time sequence occurs.

I was thinking i could code the buttons to [on press, go to the particular place in the timeline, if not keep playing to the death sequence].

Is there an easier or more effective (yet simple) way of creating these kinds of events?

Thanks!!

Epic. It's quite tough trying to come up with the opening scene for the whole animation, so i'm going to try and capture the neo-wetern theme as much as possible, hope it turns out ok :P

Good luck to all! :P

(PS. i dont know if they asked this, but shall we send the FLA's in Flash8?)

Response to: The Warhammer Fantasy Collab Posted March 18th, 2010 in Collaboration

To all who still follow this thread.

Unfortunately I am officially closing this Warhammer Fantasy Collab due to bad timing. The other collab leaders and I wanted to start it off as soon as possible once we were still in the Warhammer Mood yet this collab has proven unsuccessful - both because of the smaller amount of Fantasy followers and school work taking up most of our time.

This was the 1st collab I tried to lead and, even though it proved unsuccessful, I think I learnt quite a bit about 'managing' a collab - I won't make the same mistakes next time round ;p

Anyway, now I'll be working on my school project which should turn out pretty decent (at least i hope) [sneak-peek at the bottom for the fun of it] and, hopefully, I'll start off a smaller collab (not Warhammer related) this summer.

Thanks to all the authors who contributed to the collab, and the animators who tried to work on a small piece, Don (flashbound18) who was making an awesome pre-loader, Tom (ForbidMetal) who put up with me when i was super-pissed off and voice acted in that mini-animation we made to try and raise morale and interest. If we'll ever make a Fantasy collab I'll pm all of you to see if you're still interested.

For Sigmar!

Schools has been busy...

I know, i havent had much time to do animations either (even though i'm leader an my main duty is to keep things going and i seem to be failing badly) but you're not the only non-organizer animator in the collab. School's important so finish your work 1st :)

And, to keep you guys updated on why i cant rly animate anythign atm, Art College isnt as easy as i thought it was going to be. I'm on the verge of starting a serious animation for my final project and i've been developuing storyboards, characters, etc for the past 6 weeks.

We could do that, at our own pace, and destroy the possibility of giving animators a chance to participate in a Fantasy Collab. We had discussed this some time ago and decided it'd be better if the collab's a 'big one' and involves more ppl than just Forbid, Flashbound and I.

And after about 3 days, only the same few ppl post here...

Nike and adidas are both sport brands, not drinks.
Like this collab and the twin towers equally fell down hard.

Response to: The Warhammer Fantasy Collab Posted March 12th, 2010 in Collaboration

I'll reply to myself then - as predicted.

If the collab continues this way i'm afraid i'll simply have to shut it down. I know i dont have that much time to animate a short atm but, unless you've given me a decent reason for not animating, i think it's pointless that you tried to sign in to a collab (a sequel to one which was pretty bad-ass at that) and just post an endless ammount of stories with a solid number of voice actors, and not 1 animation.

I'm going to leave this decision in your hands as i dont want to screw this up myself if i'm in a bad mood, shall we continue or close this down?

Thanks.

Response to: The Warhammer Fantasy Collab Posted March 11th, 2010 in Collaboration

Dont worry i do the same Flash. I dont post cos i'll end up replying to my own previous post. Is there anyone still up for animating stuff for this collab?

I don't want to be coming up with ideas for an army we might already have 1 or 2 shorts (being made) for

Flashbound is doing an orc one~ Im doing a chaos one
and thats all I remember reading
magic, you need to start animating.

we haven't seen what you can do yet (in motion) and its going to suck if we cant take you after you came up with 20 ideas etc.

Know that we wont hesitate to deny you or anyone if your/their work isn't up to snuff, regardless of verbal contributions

Yeah, i'm afraid it's true. My part is currently on physical paper (sketches and storyboards) and i'll post stuff once college kindly gives me some free time (summer? which is only 2 months in my case? i hope not...) but PLEASE get animating for God's Sake... all of you...

Check the older thread, there are quite a few stories for you to work on.

Preloader's looking awsome, Flashbound18 ftw!

I'm still broken down at college, no time to animate, but i came up with a small TombKings sketch - i miss last year's abbundancy of free time :'(
