I was going to buy one but the postage was more than the product, and when It may turn out to be luis's underwear I don't think I can justify paying 30 quid.

I get luis's underwear for free.

I could probally start running these, but I have no way of giving prizes. Maybe winning is enough of a prize already.

If I was to do this I would need some help with judging and rule setting, If anyone is interested we could talk via PM and maybe work over the week to do a test run starting friday night?

Welcome to the Animation forum, If this is the first thread you looked in when coming here you did a good job.

You may have come into this forum too ask some questions, please read this before you make a new post as this thread will answer any question that you have. If it doesn't just ask within this thread.

General Questions.

What program do you make flash cartoons with?

Well this is a question that gets asked alot, the normal thing to use would be Adobe Flash this program can be expensive so I reccomend purchasing an older version as many of the new features are unneeded for animation. There are other animation programs out there such as toonboom but these are less often used. You can still research the different features of these products and make your own choice however.

How do I animate

Learn to draw this can't be stressed enough. If you don't learn to draw you will not do well. After this it's all about learning the basic features of your program. Frames, Keyframes, FPS, Poses, Exageration. Learn learn learn.

But it's hard to draw with a mouse. What fancy tablet should I buy

Well this all depends on your income and how much you want to splurge on a tablet. Wacom is a safe product to buy and they range in price from the cheapest Bamboo which is a regular tablet to the most expensive Cintiq which is like a monitor you draw on. Personal preference comes into account here as well.

I made an animation, what now?

Why not make a thread showcasing your work right here in this very forum. You can put all your tests and stills from your latest project and recieve feedback from the rest of us.

Also, all the posts in here are always: "How do I animate?", "What version of flash is best", "what iz best tablit?". Perhaps there should be some general rules against it or general thread for that kind of thing.

I'll do some work on writing a starting post for this today.

There's some nice stuff here, maybe improve some of the poses by exaggerating them.

Weekly may be too little time as people often have work and there own projects, but monthly could work.

Nobody cares if it's your first animation, probably remove that.

The graphics and colors are quite ugly stay away from using such mediocre shades like the default red green and blue.

If you're gonna voice a character but can't voice act please only voice the one character that you want to play.

Maybe look up some drawing tutorials and stuff on you tube then look up some animation tutorials by OneyNG and Samgreenmedia2.

A tablet is something you use for art, you don't need a tablet to do tweening.

So some days the animation forum seems kind of dead, hardly anyone posts in new threads and most new threads are people looking for animators for there new comedy that they have written which is lol so funneh.

Does anyone have any opinions on what could be done to liven the community a bit more?

Johnnutah has 2 good videos on vimeo entitled "your dumb at flash"

also on youtube is samgreenmedia2's channel which is quite helpful.

Why would you start animating before the story is finished, and only pay IF it gets to frontpage.

Looks like the width of the icon isn't enough, try using a bigger image for your icon.

You can animate in any style/ form.

I used to spend alot of time on NG watching cartoons, Spent all my high school years drawing in lessons and failing classes.

Now only just starting to animate my own shit because I am a lazy guy and I hate my job.
