and for the sweet and sour bwac stuff, are there going to be tags to decipher submissions?
Hmm, You don't have too but I'll post in the thread to tag it BWACBETA so people can sort them easier.
Change the audio quality in publish settings, also disable convert to mono in the same place.

Hello and welcome to the Bi Weekly Animation Contest beta.
This is a test too see if it works hosting an animation competition every two weeks, right here in the animation forum, this could lead to prizes and recognition for participants.
Every 2 weeks I will host this competition if all goes well, there will be a subject and a starting animation posted and you lucky guys get to make a 5-20 (may change) second animation on the subject. Then in the next two weeks you can post your entry and then after entries are posted everyone in the forum gets to vote on there favorite.
Each person gets 3 votes worth 1-3 points. Set out like this
1.Blounty
2. Blounty
3.Blounty
1st is worth 3 points, 2nd 2 points and 3rd 1 point. I will then tally up the votes and determine the winners.
Lets see if we can get this going then.
Rules
Entries must be between 5-20 seconds long
Entries must be uploaded to the dumping grounds and posted within this thread before closing time
Closing date and time is 06/29/2012 @ 12PM EST
Subject
The subject for the Beta is Sweet and Sour
You can take any part or all of the subject and go with it.
Thank you for reading, have fun.

But when I started to use the bone tool, the program freezes up. It has frozen when I try and move bones, and it has frozen when I try and insert poses.
It's been a real hindrance to my progress on this project, and I'd like to know how to fix the problem.
Don't use bones?

I do believe you have finished the BWAC opening animation now, all you have to do is organize the posts for the discussion and entry threads and you can have the weekend to relax.
Some of the timing on the animation is kinda off, put some in-betweens in the hammer. Google animation smearing.

I'll keep that in mind.
I would like to discuss minecraft parodies. Theyre getting super super lame and yet there is at least 5 I count being posted on newgrounds every week. They always seem to have the same unoriginal content typically a new player collecting resources making a house and getting attacked by the various monsters in the game. I know there are many exceptions to this. Minecraft TNA and Rubberninja's derpcraft (which I think started the whole thing off). How long is this phase going to last? I think that this can also be applied to Skyrim parodies- they started off to be epic with Harry partridge but then to many animators seemed to jump onto the band waggon. I can empathise with animators that it is hard to find original content. Sorry for this rant I just wanted to get it off my chest. Feeling better now.
Why not parody the Minecraft parodies :P
Some possible questions:
-Should people be required to work alone, or can multiple people participate in the art/animation aspect?
I'll probably announce whether teams are allowed or not depending on the subject.
-Are people encouraged to only use audio from the art portal, or are outside sources allowed?
It's always encouraged to use audio from the AUDIO portal ;p but I don't think it should be a problem if anyone wants to use other audio if they need it.
-Is there going to be a restriction on how mature peoples' content can be, or will it be a sort of 'anything goes' type deal?
I believe it should be anything goes as I don't think people should be restricted in what they make but this could change depending on the subject.
-Will there be a prize? If so, can people participate and win a prize biweekly, and if so, does that mean that if someone wins one set of weeks, will they be barred from winning the prize for the next set of weeks?
In the Beta I don't know if prizes will be offered, I'm still working on getting it organised. I think that if someone wins they won't be able to win the next BWAC but could maybe get a higher powered vote on who they think should win.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but for now I guess these are some questions I am throwing out there.
Keep 'em coming.
NO VIDEOS ALLOWED
It has to be animation.

Also, what is a great value for the buck, without ripping off the contractor nor the artist.
10 dollars a second seems reasonable for amateur animators I'd say.
Is it stop motion then? because if it's just a movie you should head over to YouTube.
At 6/12/12 04:35 PM, Doctor-Pepper wrote: I am wondering how much is it appropriate to charge for an animated clip.
It would be an intro to a game for mobile devices. About 15 sec. Quality drawn and animated, yet under friendly indie rates
It really depends on how much the animator thinks he's worth.
I'll answer everyones questions tommorow, I'm tired and dont want to fuck up.

I would like to get your input on what rules and regulations you would like to see imposed on the competition.
I've been told the simpler the better
I have an idea for the first topic/subject and hope to have a introduction written and an opening animation ready for that in the next few days.
After that anyone can post in here what kind of topic we could have or even shoot me a PM.
Will open when I get back from work, if I can wait, Can you wait?
Bet you can't guess what it is.

Also people will have to see a dick everytime they come to look at the thread(your ng icon). Lastly, what's wrong with making your own posts? It seems kind of pointless to post here rather than posting in the main section, where you will most likely get more views. Nice try, but I have a hard time believing that this will work at all. Sorry.
Dicks are a staple of newgrounds. Every post being made asking for an animator clogs the forum up. If this doesn't work so be it, I just wanted to try and see if this would clean up the animator wanted threads while leaving the rest of the forum for real animation discussion and showcasing.

We tried creating an Animation Forum Lounge ...that didn't last long, but that doesn't mean it can't be revived.
I'll see what I can do about that.
Techno also tried making the Looking for Animators Thread! ...didn't work very well. Maybe your attempt will have better luck... but people don't typically look for threads like that, they just make their own.
I had no Idea this had been done before, I'll see if I can try to get people to post more looking4's in the right thread.
Weeklies would be fantastic (without prizes). I think a key to making them work (same for the art forum), is starting with instructions/examples/a demo. I don't have the skills to do that, so if someone with actually ability was up for hosting them, that would be great!
I'm speaking to Luis on this front I'll try and get something sorted out, I don't mind hosting things if it makes the community better.
