Response to: Why im I getting flagged? Posted May 28th, 2005 in Game Development

It's already been suggested but what you need to do is send an e-mail to: wade@newgrounds.com

In the subject space put: Newgrounds Help

And tell him that your movie was unfairly flagged. I believe that all movies that have been flagged will be deleted after a certain amount of time if the author does not attempt to contact Wade.

I just wan't to finish one god damn piece! But when I start working, I suddenly get this mix of anger and impatience, and I cannot get rid of it.

That seems to be a pretty common problem, one that I am also struggling with. It's extremely frustrating...

I don't know of any easy solution, personally I go through cycles of high motivation and productivity and then long lulls of useless inactivity. If something remains unfinished when my motivation runs out it often sits and rots...

Forcing yourself to work on something will probably cause the quality of the piece to suffer (it does with me), but if you have to get it done I would suggest eliminating other distrations (TV, computer games, irritating family members/roomates, etc) and play some music that gets you in the proper frame of mind.

Whoa, that is one awesome flying, metal, whale, airship thing. Amazing.

Is your picture scanned or drawn on your computer?

I'd like to still be doing it, but I'm not sure if I can hit the deadline at this point.... I'm going to see what I can get done tonight.

Nice drawing, I always enjoy your use of colours. Micron eh? What's a micron? I just looked it up, the only thing I could find related to art was a train modelling site...

Very nice sketch. The coloring really is great, and the proportions look perfect to me.

AGH, a Micron is a fine tipped pen used for illustration and drafting and such, they come in several pretty colors and line widths.

Response to: would this get through? Posted May 26th, 2005 in Game Development

Sorry, it wouldn't survive judgement on it's own, but it might make for a fun pre-loader. ;)

Oh, and holding down the Tab key is a cheat that you might want to work out before you make a highscore feature for it.

Shit like that makes me not want to submit anything anywhere, I just hate that I have to explain every little thing every fucking time I want to submit something or even do a digital drawing thread. End of rant.

Well, then the people at Retrograde don't know dick about dick. If you stop submitting to the NG BBS I will be rather sad... Whenever I see one of your flash constructed pics it make life that much more tolerable.

(Life without an AGH pic= pretty boring)

I would suggest rather than having it in many layers or a single movie clip, putting everything into a graphic. That way it would be easier to find the best place to match it with the music. It's what I was planning to do anyway (unless someone tells me different).

And probably include your name or an abriviation on the graphic name to avoid same name graphics.

How long did it take for you to do that?

Good question.
Let's see here, I started it on Sunday night... 6-8 hours total..? Maybe less.

I should start a logbook, I'm terrible at estimating this kind of stuff and possibly the most forgetful person I know.

Oh, and thanks Greedom! I'll be sure to post a link when it's finished. :)

Green Blob

Thanks

It looks quite nice, the animation is really smooth.

All I can say it that adding bright highlights to it might make it appear more liquid.

I've also noticed that (I think) having a color in the background as opposed to plain white (and maybe a shadow with that) seems to add a lot to the visual appeal.

I think I'm going to do that with the beginning of mine...

Anyway, good job, keep it up!

You can't really mutate it to your desire. Unless you just want plain text. Then just use the text button.

Retracing the text isn't necessary if you want to animate it. Use the break apart command on your static text twice to get it to its base level (which is the same a drawing with the brush tool).

Is he going to be used in an animation?

Anyway I like it. I think if you added some highlights to the metal parts of his outfit, his weapon, and some glints of light on the gold parts of his shield it might bring more depth to the picture. Good job so far though! :)
