Why do you want a phony pre-loader anyway?

Good luck.
I tried that, but it didn't seem to work. I already looked at that, it didn't seem to have anything above what I already knew. But, I don't think I understand what you're saying. I want the background to be transparent so You can see the web page's background behind it, but then why would I set it to the background color?

Because the background color is anti-aliased into the picture. You know how paint looks all pixely? That's because every pixel holds a color there is no blending. In Flash, you don't work with pixels, you work with vectors and vectors are smooth. When you publish a .gif, it wants to retain that smooth vector look but has to use pixels. Anti-aliasing makes in between colors to retain that smooth look but in pixel form.

Now the transparent .gif you want to publish is going to decide that whatever the background color your Flash is set to is going to be the color that it will blend to with the in between color pixels.

I suck at explaining things, but try a couple of different colors for the background color and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Make one art thread for everything, you have three topics on the first page of the forum. Each piece of art doesn't need it's own little discussion.

Anyway, the piece looks decent, I like Jack sticking his head in there...

Finally someone that's negative! I'll look into have a double scrolling background. You didn't like the snow? And is the Yeti that ugly? I might look into getting a graphic desinger for it, I was NEVER that great with graphics... Actionscript was my thing.

The snow is passable, but isn't great, the Yeti looks really bad (sorry). I can't judge the actionscript because I don't know enough of it to tell if that game involved a lot of advanced AS or very little, but it seems like you probably worked hard on it despite a couple of glitches.

At 10/20/07 08:42 PM, PyroflameProductions wrote: Oh And it seems I forgot to answer you statement "What stragety does this involve?". If you noticed that theres diffrent "Traps" as I called them. Like with the cliff trap you have to take it slow, the spike take it fast, the yeti you have to have timing, ect.

Yeah, I only got as far as the spike traps so I didn't encounter the other ones. It just seems, to me, to be lacking in some really fun element, something that keeps you hooked and challenges your skill. I think of Aggressive Alpine Skiing when I play this game, about how that game hooked me and I couldn't stop playing it until I beat it (which took me several days).

Good luck on the game, I thought the camera was an interesting and unique touch.

Is there strategy involved? I mean, the whole time I was playing I was just holding down the right button, what's fun about that?

I'm not crazy about the way the snow looks and you definitely need better backgrounds, maybe even a couple of layers of backgrounds that scroll at different speeds. The Yeti is ugly and poorly animated. Get someone to help you with the graphics.

That is my constructive criticism.

Face....

too...

dark....

Compare her face with her body (the first picture). Her body looks nice, even toned, there are some highlights, it looks pretty good apart from the seemingly random lighting. But her face, it's so much darker than her body, there are no highlights and the coloring is not nearly as smooth as the rest of her. It looks really odd to me.

Um... good luck on improving your art, crazerfish50. =]

From the rules, verbatim:
- All criticism must be constructive. The art forum is intended to be a POSITIVE environment and negativity is not welcome here.

It's not exactly what you're asking for, but the forum is intended to be receptive to new art and artists.

I'll admit that when something pisses me off, usually an alt, I get sarcastic and cynical very quickly, make some snarky comment and lock the thread. I could be nicer about it, but most of the threads that I lock or delete are breaking multiple rules and flagrantly displaying horrible MS Paint art like it was shit made of gold.

I'd like only one person to post about reading the rules in any one thread and the rest of you just leave the thread alone for a mod to lock or delete it. We don't need to totally destroy a person because they're breaking the rules, but they do need to understand what they did wrong and get it right next time but we don't need to crush them to dust.

...unless they are art thieves, then feel free to unleash unholy Hell upon them. =]

..::depression::..

Hey, here's a topic I know something about! Awesome... a lil' late to the party, but what the Hell?

Being depressed for a few weeks due to something tragic or embarrassing in your life is normal. Being depressed for all of your conscious life is Hell, it really is. I've been there and it has shown me many different facets of my own being.

Just be careful if you're being prescribed something and you're still young (any age before your mid twenties). Anti-depressants can actually worsen symptoms in youths and make them suicidal or worse. Your pharmacist should tell you about that, but through my experiences I've learned that pharmacists are far from perfect on telling you essential things like side effects, dosing, if you should take it after a meal or not, what it actually does, how it may interact with other medicine or supplements you may be taking... read the papers they give you with your pills.

Serious depression is a massive problem and it can take a lifetime to conquer.

That way, if each little person is doing the same thing, or you're having them repeat something, it's just a matter of changing the movieclip on the main timeline. It's how sprite animations are done, in this case, you're just making your own sprites. But yes,

I'd actually advise against using movie clips for the animations. Using graphics with the animation inside them works best for movies, as you can see them animating on the main timeline and will pause when the movie is paused, and they will not go out of sync.

Movie clips are great for actionscript and putting filters on, but for an animation graphics are superior.
