In my opinion theres a fine line between satire and actual racism. Satire can be wickedly funny when done correctly and some people mistake making fun of racism for actual racism.
Off the top of my head I think of the reaction people have to a satirical website like Black People Love Us. It is obviously satire, but some people take offense because they don't get the joke. In the end the joke is on them.
On the other hand I don't find humor in genuinely racist material.
It may be callous of me to say this but; shit happens. It's too bad that anyone has to die, but they do, she was past her prime and had fallen into relative obscurity in recent times. I know she still had fans but, c'est la vie.
The human psyche is infinitely fascinating and equally terrifying.

You give Newgrounds too little credit.
Possibly...? =[
Good game. I remember Squaresoft was releasing a lot of quality titles at the time. Because games were cheaper to produce than they are now they were able to take risks with lots of new properties and Musashi was one of the most charming and interesting titles at the time.
Note: I am not trying to bash religion or anti-religion or disprove or prove anything in this thread. Here you are welcome to any belief you wish. Do not take my curiosities personally.
So I was wondering why monotheism has caught on so strongly in recent millenia. The idea of one all-powerful deity has, almost entirely replaced the idea of a pantheon of gods. Why is this?
Does the pendulum swing both ways, will polytheism make a comeback?

I'm applying to animation this year, but if you look at adam phillips, he has had no formal training, and his stuff is fantastic, no?
There are always exceptions. Chluaid does very, very nice flash animations, I believe that he has pushed himself hard beyond what a normal person does and I also believe that having an injury and using his recovery time to focus, hard, on drawing helped to shape his unique abilities.
That said, for most people, college is going to be what pushes a person to work hard enough and be intensive enough to develop their abilities to a professional level. Most people do not have it in them to push themselves hard enough to reach that end, and, I would fathom, that even Chluaid wouldn't be where he is without having that time where he was able to focus so exclusively on drawing.
Just my two cents.
From my own observations--animators who have had the proper education are light years beyond those of us who have just been animation hobbyists our entire lives. If you look at what a serious degree holding individual can accomplish in a matter of hours verses the kinds of things you see made by people who have not had the same education it's like night and day. If you're seriously perusing a career in animation, as with many, many other fields, college is an essential.
Castlevania Resurrection
I was pretty excited when I heard they were making a Castlevania game for Dreamcast (it was one of the reasons I bought the console). Alas it was canceled in 2000.

Unless they get Leonard Nimoy to sing on the soundtrack I don't want to hear it!

It hasn't happened anywhere else I go on NG either.
This thread is about posting PICTURES of redesign bugs (hence why it's in the art forum).

You wouldn't, by any chance, be a big H.R. Giger fan would you? Your arm-leg creature reminds me of his arm-leg biomechanoid creatures.
I've been looking for decent pictures of the Giger creatures to kind of give you an idea of what I mean, but pictures of the things are difficult to find on the internet for some reason; this is a pendant of two of the creatures intertwined.

As for my animation, I have it on YouTube: HERE Keep in mind that the animation had to be made with the (very basic) Flip Boom software and between 10 and 30 seconds long, it also needed to have an animated heart and Valentine theme.
Gotta make fun of someone/something right?
No, actually, imo Goths are fine, I have no problem with people expressing themselves through act and dress and identifying with others who share a similar outlook. In one way Goths are being honest by addressing their mortality head on instead of fearing or denying it. Morbidity, I feel, is not a negative trait.
Hey guys, if anyones interested--I entered a Toon Boom sponsored Valentine's Day animation contest. Voting takes place from now until the 14th.
Thanks. =]
I readily cop to my idiocy, however, nothing is more abstract than concrete; meaning "nothing of importance or interest in this context."

Imagine if you worked in an office in New York and there's two John Smith working there. Probably not so likely, but the chance is still there. But the chances gets even lower of them both being John Howard Smith.
That's when you come up with embarrassing, descriptive identifiers; "Did you see the tie fat John was wearing?" "Dumb John sure does love golf!"
Re: The 2012 Newgrounds Design
Are there any features that have been removed that, you feel, were convenient or important?
I was just browsing the Audio Portal and noticed that the drop down menu for other pieces by the artist is missing and I'm like; =O. What gives? I thought that that was a very useful tool to have, it's also missing from games and movies and that irritates me a little.
I was discussing certain people's abilities in fine art and animation and I am of the mind that there is an apex of ability in many things; people who's ability exceeds the average, even the very skilled, at a task, and create masterworks; true craftsman, if you will, people who are above and beyond in their skill, talent and raw technical detail. Then there are the rest of us, people who can get by, maybe even make a very good living but haven't devoted the time, effort or have the underlying talent to truly become a master. Let's call these two types alpha types and beta types.
How do you see your personal performance, are there areas where you truly feel that you have, or might acquire alpha abilities?

The always entertaining Donald Trump has made headlines again today by blasting the efforts of the Scottish government to build a wind farm on their coastline near where Trump is planning on building a luxury golf resort. Trump has written an open letter condemning the Scottish government's plans toward energy independence.
âEUoeI have just authorized my staff to allocate a substantial amount of money to launch an international campaign to fight your plan to surround ScotlandâEUTMs coast with many thousands of wind turbines âEU" it will be like looking through the bars of a prison and Scottish citizens will be like prisoners!âEU Trump writes.
Moral: don't piss off the Donald or there will be hell toupee!
Not my joke.
Is this just another case of the Donald's overinflated ego being too big for his britches or is it wrong for the Scottish government to try to create clean energy at the possible expense of some of the natural beauty of their land?
