I don't why I'm saying this, but I think her size is ridiculous.
Personally I don't think if someone that gigantic would exert a lot of effort to destroy buildings that small.
I'm not so convinced. Obviously in kaiju films the monsters easily crush buildings as is they were balsa-wood, but (this is just speculation) I would imagine that a building made of hardened steel and concrete would be more difficult than that, even for a supermassive monster (Galactus notwithstanding). If you scale down a building with the same materials to the size where it would fit easily under a human foot I believe it would stand up to a decent amount of force. It takes a not-insignificant amount of force to bend, say, a steel knife blade, despite it being only a few millimeters thick, for example. Also; she has bare feet, so ow.
I mean, if you wanted to get all Isaac Asimov about it, an organism that size would have to be very structurally different than a human, if it could exist at all without completely breaking down. I'm pretty sure the artist is well within their rights to take a significant amount of liberties, it's not, as they say, rocket science.

It's not about showing off your skills and trying to be impressive, but just doing something different for fun ;)
Yes, I agree with you. I was just commenting on the nature of the piece that, more or less, inspired you to do something even more creative. I just wanted to say the original is conceptually amusing and the execution is nice, but it's altogether unimpressive and the subject matter is lame.
The nature of your piece, though not executed as well technically, is not a reproduction, is not gray-scale and is not a lame movie poster so it has more depth. Less “wow” factor but more depth.
I'm sorry for moving the thread off of it's intended purpose and I'm working on my own negative piece now... whether or not it ever sees the light of day is questionable though, tbh; my understanding of negative colors is rudimentary at best, I could do gray-scale, however. ;P

It's a little confusing because it looks like you have critiqued yourself already quite a bit. It's easier to critique it if it doesn't have all those lines scribbled over it.
I'm not a big fan of that typical over the simplified manga face. I don't know if this is fan art, but if it isn't, take a look at some real faces and study some real life anatomy.
I can't even imagine how small the jawbone here must be and the nose is almost nonexistent. I'm thinking that to someone who's not used to seeing manga drawings everywhere, this persons face would look a bit deformed. Other than that the drawing is pretty good I guess. I'm not in the mood for nitpicking.
Oh barf. It's clearly stylized and not meant to reflect realistic anatomy. Everyone has their interests and inspirations... this is obviously inspired by Japanese pop culture.
I like it for what it is. It's not profound or conceptual or progressive at all when taken in context, but it's fan art--it's not supposed to be and as long as it's not a direct copy of an existing image I find it fairly satisfying as a piece of fan art. I'd rather look at something like this than another Tolkien inspired fantasy image any day.
If I were to critique that I would say that the perspective seems a bit skewed, her right leg seems off, her feet look blocky and the soft shading is somewhat aesthetically unpleasant, but not as bad as much of the burn style Photoshop shading I've witnessed. And, obviously, the city should be finished and maybe do something with all that empty sky space... clouds, birds, an airplane, some gooey airborne pollution... you could even roll it into a kaiju/50 Foot Woman thing and have military vehicles attacking the subject... but that's probably not what you're going for, I'm not super familiar with the giant rampaging anime babe concept.
Also; you could watermark your stuff if you're afraid of others taking credit for it, it's not foolproof but it's a precaution some take. Personally, I find being overprotective of your art kind of the opposite reason of why a person produces art in the first place. Whatev.

This isn't intended to sound cynical, but, honestly, I don't find that very impressive. Flopping the palette of a gray-scale photo collage may not be something most people would think to do but reversing those shades will come natural to anyone who's worked with pencil.
His drawing/reproduction skills are spot on... so go him.
Thinking back on it now, the stupidest thing I ever had to buy for any drawing or 2D design course would be that little gray brick of moldable putty eraser. Why? A dry paper towel is a more effective blotting eraser, an angled piece of cardboard or folded drawing paper are superior fine point erasers and for corrections and highlights a standard eraser is the weapon of choice. Those putty erasers are useless. If you don't give up on using it immediately it starts to smell bad and a couple of weeks in you can actually use it for shading stuff in. I smell an unholy alliance between those putty-eraser mega-corporations and art schools around the world... profs getting mad kickbacks, yo.
(I now fully expect the putty eraser loving Man to come down hard).
Enjoy this picture which I lovingly dr00d on my hand-crafted, olde world computer without the aid of any of those god damn putty erasers (or don't enjoy it, it's not really my place to tell you what to do).

Here's an open letter from the original artist.
... And here's his response:
While that's a fairly snappy sounding analysis, if we're looking at this seriously I'd argue that Lee's credibility is far more damaged by refusing to entertain the notion and siding with the ad agency without looking into it. I don't know the full story, hell it may have been resolved by now and Lee vindicated, but working artists get screwed over by corporate entities all night long, it's almost to be expected.
A terse, dismissive response from Lee comes off as insufferably arrogant, especially considering the tone of the original letter plainly asking for help. I'd say that an open letter in a case like this is called for and isn't intended to damage someone's credibility, but it's necessary to be heard and get some measure of support.
The capitalization thing is just--barf, but it's not relevant and I see certain people do that on the Internet often, it strikes me more of as a newbie/ignorance thing than anything else. No one has likely corrected him in a way that it was able to sink into his head. Typing that way does make you look like a wang, though.
Also; hi.

You can say anything you please, the sure thing is I'm actually not better off dead. For awhile I was floundering but when the shadows and fog cleared I found my identity. The serendipity of getting some money for nothing didn't hurt either. Hot tub time machine.

Burning BMK--an Art Thread
First: If you've been here for a significant amount of time and are familiar with me; I'm just here right now. Nothing else.
Second: A work of visual art needs no explanation beyond the image--the title itself, however cryptic, is a bonus. If you require context or meaning; invent your own. Visual art is visual, explaining why you did what you did or what it means dilutes it's potential.
Third: I'm working on a completely new portfolio of works. This thread is an experimental part of that process; I want to know if posting here (again), where there are other artistic personalities and potential critique, will be motivating to me.
That's all.
Kisses! XOXO

Steam now has apps for both iOS and Android devices, where you can bowse Steam content, buy games and chat with your Steam friends.
Do you think there is potential for a games based app store there?
I, personally, don't have a smart phone, but with the future of computing leaning more and more toward mobile devices, I think that would be a smart move for Steam to begin selling gaming apps for smart phone users.
Probably taking a break.

They've shown the first season/series of 3 episodes here in the US on Masterpiece Mystery on PBS, I thought it was quite good. I've been a fan of the Doyle stories since reading them as a teen and I feel that this series does justice to the characters that he created. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the series.
I've never played Odin Sphere, but the Blazblue games have some really nice, very detailed HD character sprites. When animated they're quite spectacular.
While the basic premise isn't that difficult, creating an even and uninterrupted flow of exhaled air is really hard for me, when I try inhaling through the nose my exhalation gets significantly weaker then when not inhaling.
I'd travel the universe without it, it's relatively unnecessary.
Maybe if you elaborated on what you mean I wouldn't be so intolerant of this topic.
The"punching game" where a person makes a gesture, below the waist, with their index finger and thumb touching and other fingers extended, if you look at it you get punched.
Glame.
Who would win in a fight like that?
Everyone watching.
That's stupid, socially unacceptable and is sexual harassment.
If it's offensive to you and you feel violated, you should ask them to not do that. If they persist you could probably get restraining orders on those people, possibly have them removed from whatever establishment you're seeing them at (work or school or whatever). That might seem a bit extreme but a lot of people would be extremely uncomfortable in that situation and there's not a lot of recourse you have, I personally wouldn't stand for that.
I've never understood why they stretch February for Leap Year instead of December.
Anyway, happy Leap Year extension day!
