Talking about Nickelodeon... I liked very much the shows made by people who came from Cartoon Network. Like Fairly Godparents. Or that one... :D
But that cartoon aired on 2003, and this drawing was made about 1999-2000...
I doodled Jenny a couple of years ago, when I was at work. I´ll have to scan that...
Born out of boredom at a robotics competition. an oxymoron, i know... but most of the 'bots can't run forward, let alone lift a ball.
Now I remember Robotboy... Those happenings must be a lot of fun. Thanks for uploading that, it´s an interesting document of social interest.

I recognised Rocko´s Modern Life only because when Nickelodeon came to Spain, Ahh! Real Monsters was not on air anymore. Anyway, I am more like Cartoon Network thing... Couldn´t post on time because the computer of my uncle has been (as said by the young´uns nowadays) quite gay lately.
Redenvy, it´s easy: Vousielle. Vooousieeelle. I think is a beautiful nick, ´cause it remembers me the french "Vous et elle" ("You and her.). Sounds really romantic... ;]
It´s a pity you had to link it, Insipidmortal, but it´s a real good drawing anyway.
Well, I´ve been able to scan more of my old Campus Doodles! The one who is being shown this time had some ideas for a series with giant robots... The female robot was the one who developed better. Her name was Minerva, and she had two configurations: The Navigation mode, which is the one who is being shown here, saved energy and made her look cuter; and the Battle mode, where the hair turned into a helmet, giving her a fierce look, and some parts became more armor-like (apart from wielding a spear-like weapon, of course.), thus turning her into a fighting machine. I made a more detailed doodle of her after those, which is the one being shown on the right.
Well, that´s all for today. Enjoy!

It´s really nice, hope to see here more pics in the guerrilla style of ours.
Well, it seems we all keep faithful to our respective fetishes. Vousielle keeps drawing high-tech military armors, redenvy her dragons and me... The usual compound of leftovers from my student years.
Well, I was worried because this is the last one I had left. Yeah, I have run out of scanned doodles for now... But fortunately, My scanning friend seems to have some spare time today, so, hopefully, I´ll be able to scan a batch of them this night.
If not, well, I´ll try to manage something.
Nothing much to comment here, random comic panels and my dreams of a sort-of-CastleVania-like game on the paper.
Enjoy.

That dragon seems really nice and friendly. Must be the paws. A dragon with paws looks like a mammal, therefore a soft, cuddly pet animal. Think about that.
Well, here comes another.

I really like this thread. Crazy ideas drawn cute. Especially the weirdest concepts like candy rabbits and shouting contests with spineless dandy fishes. Love it.
I wish I had time to write more, but I had to leave.
I´ve browsed this thread just today, and I´d like to say it has spawned a very interesting discussion.
I don´t think your picture looks like the Milburns´. I´m not very familiar with them, but it doesn´t look too similar to the pictures I´ve seen from them so far.
Man, I´m not in the mood for typing today. Sorry for not telling anything interesting. But I´d feel like repeating things that other people have already stated.
It may sound old, but the most important thing is to enjoy what you´re doing. It´s the only way to keep on the run. If you think an opinion is too way off, don´t pay any attention to it.
I´ve photo´ed this page of my notebook today. When I was drawing it, I thought of this thread. It´s sad that the only satisfying picture I´ve made these days is a portrait of the Kitty Krew members... (kooky, but true.) So, I so these things as a practice.
compare them with the pics I usually post, and you´ll know why I´m posting it here.
Peace and all.
I´m angry because I seem to be producing anything but shit these days... So, after a couple of days resting, I´m trying hard to make something half-decent to post. Meanwhile, I´ll post another piece of paper with my old doodlings.
BTW, I´m running out of scanned doodles... I´ll have to manage something.

More Campus years doodlage.
The fat sweaty guy on the bottom left is a portrait of a real person. He was introduced to me by a highschool classmate. He said: "You have to meet the spider. We call him the spider because once you contact him, he´ll CATCH YA!!!". I´ll never forgive him for introducing me such a pathetic loser. The first minute you thought he was nice. After 5 minutes, you pitied him. Half an hour later, you wanted to finish off his miserable life and do a favour to the evolution.
Hope you like them.

Love it. Happy to see you entered. You blend colors amazingly and the lineart is ultra-stylish. Great pic.
A little Making-Of.
This picture has really gave me a hard time. I´ve planned it MONTHS ago, then I had to make like 7 or 8 sketches until I was satisfied with the pose. Then I had to redraw the arm with the gun like 10 times more because of the shoulder armor. And the final vector tracing phase has been also quite long (about 5 days, goddamit!), many details were changed. The lighting seems a little bit whimsical. Well, I had to stop it someday...
I made some preliminary sketches. Here you have one with a photo-reference rough. It is quick-made, because it is to get me aquainted with the tiny details of the armor. I should have thought of RoboCop Archive... I didn´t get good takes on the gun and the legs.
And stay alert, all you people!
The "Who´s the Mystery Man?" contest will be back soon... So if you want me to do a pic of your favourite comic-book character, check the Art Forum often!
Hope you enjoyed them.

Well, my 101th post...
Did you thought my little "Who´s the Mystery Man?" contest hadn´t got a prize?
WRONG! It had! The thing is, that the only stuff I can give away is art... But it´s better than nothing, isn´t it?
But I was busy and I also wanted it to be a surprise. That´s why I haven´t asked the winner which comic-book character he would´ve liked me to draw. I don´t know much about MindChamber´s comic interests... So I had to manage something.
But I felt somewhat silly anyway drawing a character for somebody who has already made even a 3-D model...
Hey, I´ve got the first two movie adaptations and many numbers of the Marvel series. So yeah, it´s not a real comic character... but almost.
I´ve tried to do my best, anyway. Enjoy it.

its awesome art.. Probably not what pox wanted for this contest. but its still a cool piece.
That´s what I intended. I thought I´d fucked up already but wanted to make an art for this anyway. Thanks a lot.
I think all the thick lines muck up the details. probably thinner outlines inside the work and a thick bold outline around each character would make it easier to see all the work better. not sure tho.
I also thought of that when doing it. But I was too busy trying to beat the clock and I couldn´t find a quick solution to that... The most sensible thing in this particular case is to substitute the regular lines in the pieces of armor for vectorial objects creating a dynamic outline. I even thought of making that with the whole outline, but it would have taken ages so I had to ditch that. I was really thinking of making a new version of this, ´cause I think it hasn´t reached all its potential. But I was about to start another picture, dammit.
Oh, well. The best thing to do is work in something no matter what. But I´d appreciate some suggestions about this matter anyway.
At 3/1/08 12:07 PM, DooDooMeaT wrote: Have you ever tried your character style with no outlines?
When working with vectors and with a limited color palette, is risky, ´cause the figures will probably end up looking like colored paper cut-outs. Plus it would be difficult to suggest volume in some details. But I´ll try it eventually, when I get the knack of bitmap blending.
Your comment is much appreciated. Thank you, and keep on it.
Not much time now, I´ll be brief.
First of all, I FAILED. It was too much for me learninig to paint digitally at the level I needed for my idea to come out successfully. I´m deepfully sorry. But I won´t abandon my hopes of mastering it, so I´ll keep working on it.
Curiously enough, An article about "Metal Hurlant" fell in my hands last weekend. After reading it and some of the comics it mentioned, I decided to make a picture fast (HAAAH HA, haaa... Fool of me, I´ve just finished it NOW.) just for the sake of it.
My apologies for my failure, but comments will be appreciated.
Hope you enjoy it anyway.

Ahh, what times... I was going to answer this like: "No, the reason why people aren´t really posting is because nobody really cares a shit about this thread. I´ve seen locked threads with more posts and waaay more visits than this one."
Now I can´t go bitching about being unpopular...
Last weekend, the news report informed that Paulina Rubio (Mexican Pop Idol) scandalized the mexican media appearing in a photo session dressed only in the Mexican flag. I thought of Luis then. I´ve never had the occasion of talk to him about anything, and we´re still far from the next Sketchbook Tour... I know he excels at FBF animation, he often organizes group activities in the Forum, he hates clocks, he´s disrespectful with autorithy figures and he shows off his mexicanity proudly. He seems a nice guy and he´s much loved by the NG community. That´s Luis in nutshell to me.
That night, everybody went to bed and I stayed up in the kitchen with my notebook, as usual. Then, an evil idea took over my mind. And much to my shocking, it produced a fine sketch.
"I can´t do this.". "Oh, God, Luis will kill me if I do this.". Useless. Now I´ve uploaded it and, relieved from that burden, I can go back to my photoshop painiting tutorials (with little success, by the way.).
¡Perdóname, Luis! ¡Ha sido la tele! ¡Ella me obligó!
Bah, whatever... I hope you like it. ´Till next time (Unless this thread gets locked or some Sicarios break my fingers, of course...).
FUN FACTS:
- The skin tone of the girl is based on the color that the Luis´Toon used in "Eazy Duz It" (By the way, I didn´t like it much because I think Angry Luis is rather uncool, it doesn´t suit him. I prefer Happy Luis instead.)
- The Eyebrow shape is also based on the Luis´Toon.
- As far as I´m concerned, Luis doesn´t have a bottom like this girl. But, hey, I didn´t seen it myself... Maybe it´s beautiful anyway...
- 1, only ONE Kb. forced me to resize the picture from the 500x500 px. to 470x470 px. in order to meet the required 150 Kb. file size.
Hasta la próxima, amigos.

Oh, well.) and that guy goes by and bumps this thread. Attracting some comments demanding attention. Forcing me to make another lightboard ASAP. Oh, well; I needed a break from bitmap, anyway.
The truth is that I´ve been on a sort of a creative crisis lately. I had good ideas, but my drawings came out as crap. It happens to me from time to time... Now that I know there are people expecting me to do something good, I hope to overcome that eventually.
