not really, it comes with years of being called names and bullied on.

HeyheyheyHEY!!! No more broken egos, please! If everyone starts whining, I will whine too and I'm trying to quit that, please! 'k? FINE!!!

Yesterday, I took a breather and read the final volume of Black Jack.
It has been 17 volumes of about 300 pages each. And it's one of my lifetime favorite comics.
So last night, I wanted to give another try to draw some of its characters. I've tried to draw them the way his author would draw them. I mean, really fast; not really mimicking Tezuka's style....
From the upper left:
Black Jack: The infamous "Scalpel Demon". How much do you think your health is worth?
Pinoko: She looks like a 5-year old girl. She says she's 18. BJ says she's only 1. And both are right.
Dr. Kiriko: The dreaded "God of Death". He applies euthanasia for a price. Is he really so souless?
- A hand with an scalpel. It's almost mandatory on every chapter!
-What the FUCK is that THING?!

Yeah, I know I use a paper that is real shit... Let's save that for another day.
I hope you like them!

If you redraw the legs so they're apart (so he looks ready to fight/support his leaning forward body) then yeah, for sure.

The idea was to draw his right leg one step ahead. A quiet stance to show off his well-ironed pants :D I've considered your idea of drawing his legs apart, but in order for it to work, it'd be better to redraw it completely... I'll try to post a fighting stance sketch to see if that's what you had in mind.

Well, yesterday CAPCOM really made me happy. Guy's coming to SSF4... And he's bringing a friend with him!

Yeah, I was one of those guys who missed his stereotypical jeans & shirt but with time, I've admitted the character is much more distinctive this way and, hey...
... He was your average hero o' the day... but now he's a man consumed by violence!
OHMYGOSH I THINK I GOT MY PANTS SQUISHY.

Well, the rest of my reasons for loving Cody will wait for another day. Here's a rough I've just made and I thought to clean it up a bit and posting it here. I'd really encourage commenting on this one.
Thanks in advance.

Dang.
I can't believe it.
It's a pity, I was thinking the guy's kinda nice... But when he had the chance to sort things up, bam, he goes and blows it real bad. Yesterday morning, I had a look to his art gallery and I liked what I saw. I thought he had potential, and rated accoordingly to that.
... But that attitude... Not. And the things you said... I suggest you to think over those. You acted as the typical guy who likes to troll around and your statements were really weak.
I saw myself somewhat reflected in your drawing 'cause I think many of the popular comic and animated japanese series are really stale or just plain bad, and I think those feed trends of hating like yours. There has been a creative crisis ocurring in the commercial anime/manga scene during some years and it has become less and less interesting since.
But you won't see me throwing away a whole industry or dissing its professionals only because I don't like the products they're making right now. And, if you can't find a product you like, you only have to seek further. We don't live in Japan, we don't have access at all the whole amount of comics and anime that are produced there in a mind-blowing rate. And I'm not talking about all the classics already available...
And I don't think turning into that old grumpy geezer who's always saying "Everything was better before" can be so appeaing... I don't want to turn into a fossil, that's for sure.

Enough droning. Nantes, I'd really be pleased if you came back to this thread (with a better attitude, that is.) and besides...

Maybe they just were told to use a posterized photo just to get the attention to shapes and volumes and use that as a hint to draw and shade the picture as the charcoal is meant to be used...

I thought about resurrecting this thread because of two main reasons:
a) Giving another chance for people to admire Pancake's art. And, Pancake, if you can read this, come back.
Hey, at least I tried. You can never have "too much" talent gathered in the 'grounds. Fortunately we got sucho and some other amazing creature artists to delight us with their imaginative ways to render flesh and bone...
b) With a name like this, it's a pity not to reuse the thread. I believe strongly in bandwidth economy and I'm sure a LOT of you like to draw monsters, elves and such creatures of the genre.

Thus, I decided to post these old (scanned in 2007) sketches of mine. I feel somewhat embarrased to post these scribblings next to Pancake's hard-worked illustrations... But someone has to break the eggs.

Bizarro's Fantasy Archaetypes (1 of 7)

OF COURSE.

its the character im not too familiar with, only seen art but never cared at the moment to look it up or find out where it came from, and when you think about it, there is so much you can actually have seen and read before you go and say you know everything. no one really is a full blooded otaku unless they have gone through the mounds of thousands of things that is anime and manga.

Indeed, but a little curiosity won't hurt the kitty. When you like something, it's natural to feel interested in knowing more about the things you crave. There are serious and professional articles, reviews and books about the history of manga and anime. You have the 'net, with wikipedia an' all (And I DON'T, by the way.) You have resources to fix that for FREE. Just get to it.

i have not scratched too much of the surface myself maybe seen and read over 60+ know the art of 80+ but thats all.

I preferred not to know about such precise figures...

oh, and if your wondering why i dont tend to look up anything anymore, well due to the fact that i hate Reading manga on the computer and i really love watching anime in jap with subs on. i barly have enough money to buy all that i want (and i have a huge list), and well id rather go buy a game for 60 dollors a lot of the time. so i try to stay away from finding something new that i know ill get right into. out of everthing i have seen and read, i have only hated 2 things. DBZ (after freza saga) and (i cant remember).

Enough. I won't waste more time with this. You wanted drama, you'll get it.
I really apologize if I sounded harsh. It was not my intention to attack you in any way.
Nobody is asking you to be a walking encyclopedia of Anime. There's the 'net already for that.
...But you have to know about the essentials. Not only Ranma 1/2 or Inu-Yasha can be better understood (I mean the "Why are like that", not the story itself) if you know about Urusei Yatsura... You trace back almost every "Harem" romantic comedy nowadays to that series (Or things like the completely inane To Love-Ru... ).

my closet.

UNCALLED FOR. If you want to show about your private life, zoom in so that we can actually distinguish SOMETHING (Waitaminute... That's Azumanga Daioh... Good one.)
