Response to: Weird problem with buttons Posted April 7th, 2010 in Game Development

Sorry for the triple post but I somehow solved the problem by just redoing the arrow button....no clue what the problem was as I'm uite sure I did everything the same as before, but something seemed to interfere there. Anyways, case clsoed, thanks for your help guys :)

Response to: Weird problem with buttons Posted April 7th, 2010 in Game Development

Okay I'm seriously getting pissed about this. When I'm doing basic 3 frames and fill them with random stuff and buttons to switch from 1 to 2 and so on it all works perfectly. But for some fucked up reason it does not work in my actual animation. What the hell.....

Response to: Weird problem with buttons Posted April 7th, 2010 in Game Development

Yeah problem is: what if room 1 is on frame 1 but an arrow leads to room 5 on frame 5, I need that gotoframe command to work.

Response to: Weird problem with buttons Posted April 7th, 2010 in Game Development

Okay I just gave it a quick try.
I copied the frames exactly like they were into a new flash to test it.
Still the same problem. The game jumps to the final frame. So it appears as if the problem is somehwere in the code but I seriously have no clue whats going on.

Weird problem with buttons Posted April 7th, 2010 in Game Development

Hey guys, I encountered quite a strange problem with buttons. Never experienced this before and afetr googling and searching for an hour on several forums I did not find an answer.

Right now I'm working on a point and click game and every room in my game is on a single frame.
Obviously, when clicking on an arrow button, I want the animation to go to the frame containing the correct room.
Problem is: as soon as I click the first arrow button in the game, all it does is jump to the last frame of the scene.

Every frame contains a simple stop code from preventing this (yes I double checked it)
and the arrow has the following code assigned to it.
----------------------------------------
-
on (press) {
gotoAndStop("Scene 2", 2);
}
----------------------------------------
-----
From what I understand, the animation should now jump to frame 2 and stay there due to the stop command. Yet it jumps to the last frame.

Any ideas?

Hello fellow Audio artist!

I recently found my way back to working with flash and started my work on a point and click horror game. That being said, I right now only need ONE voice (which may change during the development).

The guy is the main character, security guard on a colony on a far away planet. What I want for him is a common voice, nothing fancy or special. You should be able to do radio effects and to catch the mood of the character and/or the situation.

If you are interested, PM me and I will instruct you with the lines and further details.
Of course your efforts will be mentioned once it's released :)

Funny little Browsergame Posted April 11th, 2009 in General

I found a cool game on the web, it's really good to pass some spare time. Basically, you play as some kind of gladiator and fight against other player in casual fight or tournaments. The interesting part is that the fights are done automatically, which means, you just spectate your guy fighting someone else. It's pretty funny cause there's a lot of luck involved, so even lower level character are able of beating stronger enemies. If you click the link you will fight against me and are my "pupil", which is the way everybody starts the game.

Well then.....did you make sure the background MC is the only one in the layer? Or are there various MC's in one layer? I know all these are dumb things.....but I'm just trying to help :P

Response to: Blurring Problem! Posted February 9th, 2009 in Game Development

Uhm...you did make that background a MC didn't you?

Response to: Quick help about tweening Posted February 1st, 2009 in Game Development

Didn't look what it would look like when it's exported. So does this just show when I view the exported movie? Man that makes things much more complicated. I'll just stick with animating on the main timeline then I guess. Thx anyways ;)

Quick help about tweening Posted February 1st, 2009 in Game Development

Just a quick question, which totally confuses me right now. I made my hole model a MC, within it there are the several body party. I now tween the arm within the model MC. But when I go back to the main timeline and let it play, i see no movement. The whole body MC just stands there doing nothing. So how do I get stuff within my main MC to move?

Alright. Thank you buddy.

Quick question concerning sounds Posted January 31st, 2009 in Game Development

Hey it's me again. A couple of days ago I started working on my first flash featuring real voices ;D
I asked on the audio forum for help and sb recorded some awesome voices and send em to me. The problem is that he sent one mp3 file with all the sounds I need. Now I don't exactly know what to do. Just import the big file and get the sounds I need by editing within flash? Or is there a program to split the file up? And I read that mp3 largens the filesize of a flash. Is one mp3 file that crucial for the size? Or should I change the mp3 to .wav? IF yes how do i do it?

Response to: Voice Actor Wanted Posted January 31st, 2009 in Audio

EDIT: Nearly forgot about the third voice.

3) I need a voice which can be heard through a radio. The guy is from the military and his voice should sound appointed and self-confident.

Response to: Voice Actor Wanted Posted January 31st, 2009 in Audio

Hey guys. I could use 2 different voices for the intro to my game. Since it's just an intro I just need a few simple lines.

1) The first guy should have a "normal" voice. He's in his twenties and of course his voice should fit his age. Not too deep and not too high-pitched. And that's it :p just an ordinary voice, nothing special or fancy.

2) The second guy is a bit older. I need him to have a deep and husky voice. But don't overdo it. Just slightly deep and husky but not to extreme. I don't want him to be a stereotype.

As I said it shouldn't be a big job since it's just a few lines. There is no deadline, since obviously I can't finish the movie without the voices.

Contact me per PM if you're interested and I'll send you the details.

Jeez, it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out, I'm lv7 and younger than you, and that's second nature to me.

Gosh....I can't even believe I'm answering to that. Anyways you know, I'm new at Flash, it doesn't have to do anything with my age or my level. I wasn't able to find it out so I asked for help. But since you're so awesome I guess you are almighty and know everything. You surely never had to ask for help. Btw how stupid is it to compare skill with flash with my age or newgrounds level. If that's everything that counts for you, I'm very sorry for you and your wasted life. I should stop now......there's no point in arguing with a probably fat, little geek who abused the internet by randomly insulting people just to compensate his lone life without friends.

Response to: Mirror sth? Posted January 31st, 2009 in Game Development

Because my eye then turned upside down?

Mirror sth? Posted January 31st, 2009 in Game Development

Just a quick question. I'm currently drawing a face and o course want the two eyes to look as similar as possible. I remember a tutorial which advised me to mirror the first eye I created. But I can't remember how.....any help on this?

Response to: Question concerning multiple sounds Posted January 30th, 2009 in Game Development

Well as a beginner I'm just feared that I might do sth wrong...

HEy guys. Just a quick question. When I want to play two sounds at once (e.g. wind in the background and footsteps), do I have to use multiple layers? Like one for each sound I want to play?

Response to: Tablet, is it important? Posted January 29th, 2009 in Game Development

To my mind, a tablet really is useful. I, personally, use it for everything except for houses or anything else that just consists out of straight lines. For anything organic, like trees, flowers, grass, etc a tablet makes life a lot easier. At least for me :p

Response to: Blood, Gore and other sick stuff Posted January 29th, 2009 in Game Development

K. Thank you for the help so far :)

Blood, Gore and other sick stuff Posted January 29th, 2009 in Game Development

Soooooo. Im back with yet another question. I just found out that I miserably suck at drawing wounds, blood and stuff like that. I'm currently working on a zombie point &click adventure so knowing how to draw a bite wound is crucial. I already looked up the tutorials, but most of them just don't help (they are miserably explained or consist of pictures without text). So what I now need to know is the colour you guys use for blood, maybe some tips on how to draw a wound (especially gunshot wounds and bite marks) and if that's possible, maybe a kind of gut tutorial, although that's not necessary.

Response to: Smoothing out your lines Posted January 29th, 2009 in Game Development

Thx for the help guys. I think I found the settings that fit me and my style ;)

Smoothing out your lines Posted January 29th, 2009 in Game Development

Just a quick quesiton here. When you select your brush tool there's a sizer in which you can set the amount of "line smoothing" while drawing. Since I'm kinda new my question now is, what amount of smoothing is prefered by oyu guys or which one should I use.

Response to: My personal newbie Flash questions Posted January 27th, 2009 in Game Development

EDIT2: Yay. Finally figured out what happened to my text. The problem was that I accidently set the text to be "dynamic" not static. Fixed that and everything works.....well my AS problem is still there but I hope you guys can help me out there.

Response to: My personal newbie Flash questions Posted January 27th, 2009 in Game Development

EDIT: just in case you misunderstand....these strange errors just appear when I "test my movie". Not when I play the movie within Flash Professional 8. I really don't know what's going on there.

Response to: My personal newbie Flash questions Posted January 27th, 2009 in Game Development

Okay I'm back with two questions.
1) Everytime I test my movie something strange happens. When I have for example my text appear, it always appears in lowest quality and there are randomly words missing. So how can I switch the qualitiy there and what the hell happened to the words? It's really strange. The words seem like their cut off or sth. For example "a game made by" appears as "a game ma". And from my intro text there's like 3/4 gone randomly missing.

2) Im having a little problem with AS here. It's nothing big and I think it's easy to do....just not for me. So I want to have a part of the intro text appear. I have three buttons. One to switch the intro, one to go to the next part of the text( the next frame), and one to go to the previous. I tried doing this with the "nextframe" "previousframe" and "stop" and "play" commands but somehow it won't work. Can you quickly show or tell me how to do it?
