I'm finally entering one of these NACs, and my track has turned into a summer memories/nostalgia/gentler type of track. Is this close enough to the guidelines to be considered?

So, there are specific tracks you're looking for?

Out of curiousity, I tried the link too -- AVG detected multiple threats, so I'll stay away.

Think about the audience of the content, though -- who's more likely to distinguish the genuinely good content from the bad; Average Joe YouTuber (contributes nothing to the site, laughs at cat videos), or Average Joe NG User (omg 10 starz for bass wobblez plz)? They might appear to be of equal intelligence at first, but I think we're just a bit classier, no?

I mean, c'mon, are we as bad as YouTube?

I had some suggestions, but they were from the Metroid and Pokemon series -- so here's some different ones:

SMW 2: Yoshi's Island -- Main Theme (may be too "happy" to work with):

Super Meat Boy -- Can o' Salt:

Kirby Air Ride -- Menu:

Just some favourites of mine.

If it's relatively cheap ($99 or so), then they'd probably make a fortune on it. I would buy it if it were that cheap.

Yeah, sounds like a good price -- I can only hope it'll be that cheap, I guess. I've been looking to upgrade my DAW for a while, y'know, take my production to a new level. This might just be what I'm looking for.

I'm not very good at beta-testing; finding bugs and things like that, but I'd be more than happy to try out a demo when it's available. I'll keep this bookmarked!

Thanks for sharing this, SpaceWhale. This is why I like the NG community.

That's what I'm thinking -- plus, the copy/paste from multiple documents opened at the same time could help me a little (take a MIDI melody from one song and quickly paste in another).

Wonder what the price will be...

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm not thinking about doing anything like this as a submission. I just wanted to know what people think in general.

"Forbidden" Songs? Posted December 19th, 2011 in Audio

I was always curious about this, so I thought I'd finally ask.

Are there any songs that are considered "unsuitable" or "inappropriate" for people to remix/recreate (y'know, like a music production faux-pas)?

I'm referring to individual songs (like maybe "Canon in D") and song groups/categories (like national anthems).

If so, is the main problem the emotional attachment people have to the song in question, or maybe something to do with general respect to the artist's legacy/reputation (if there is one)?

Well, I hear that they're going to "overhaul" it pretty soon, which will probably feature a better voting system. I agree, there are lots of flaws with what we have now (zero-bombers and the like).

Typically in the Audio forum, game-makers come here to ask for songs from the artists. A musician such as yourself looking for games here is almost pointless -- try the Flash forum.
