I'm currently using Flash4 and have done for sometime now.
I want to make better games, as I'm learning heaps of new things everyday about flash4, but I am stuck with the dilemma of changing to Flash5.
I'm kinda turned off from changing over, because of the harder and more confusing coding involved.
Would it be really worth my while to change to flash5 and just learn the harder code?
p.s. im not that good at coding.
I may not be the best person to answer this, but I'm gonna answer it to the best of my abilities.
Basically, FlashX is a version of Flash i.e. they're similar, if not identical. I understand that the changes made from 4 to 5 wren't so much to achieve better reults but to go a different way about doing it.
If you can make great stuff in Flash 4 which you'd need Action script to do in Flash 5, then don't bother. If you're not even that comfortable with coding, then It's probably more important for you to stick with something you know. Also, there are loads of tutorials still available for #4.
Having said that, when 6 comes out, that should have some funky features, and it'll be closer to 5 than 4. So, it might be good to move now and only have to make a couple of little jumps, rather than one big jump.
Ultimately, it all depends on how much you know #4, how much time you invest in Flash-using and whether what I've said is actually at all true.
Hope that even a modicum of that was of any help.
