You could use Graphics gale. The free one doesn't allow you to save .gif files but it's good for static sprites.

It really damages your chances. You will get scouted if you have at lest 4 pictures submitted that are not a sketch. If it's good enough you will be found :3 Especially if you post your work here and get noticed more.
I'd recommend reading this if you're still unsure Ornery's scouting guide.

very very VERY rough sketch. My graphics tablet runs badly on my laptop :[ and this is what i've managed so far,
The gray areas is where i roughly thought the shade would be.
I'd like some crit on general body shape.
But bear in mind it's still very early in the WIP stage, so ignore the poopy line art. Hands as well since i just generally suck at drawing them.

Also a question to other artists. I have astigmatism in my eye (duh) and i haven't had glasses for it in quite some time (approx 2 years, the lens popped out, boooo). I was wondering if anyone else has this problem (or knows anyone else who does) and if it affects their art in anyway?
