I think you should study anatomy before you try and abstract it :/

Response to: Need A Little Help With My Pic Posted January 11th, 2011 in Art

Do a play on the "I <3 NY" thing, or a cute character or something related to the context of the picture? Or could just leave it blank; does it need to have a design on cause that might overcrowd its simplicity?
Looks great so far anyways ; )

How many years ago did you hear about the tails doll? I thought that was just for fandom created of a bunch of creepy pastas.

god damn that thing is creepy-looking as sin

KD Looks pretty cool; would be great if you could animate it but I understand about the whole advanced tutorials thing. dunno if there's a modelling forum where you could ask for easy/basic tutorials?

looks good; shading of the iris is very nice ; )
eyebrow looks too low though and I'm not quite sure about the curve of the eyelid at the socket. Did you use a reference?

yeah.... dont bother asking.

I dare you to draw that in >: )

I'd recommend not smudging because it's really obvious and also looks kinda lazy; physically shading looks much better and you can add/use texture rather than giving everything a smooth surface

Response to: Jay's QuBicle Posted December 29th, 2010 in Art

love the bird; the textures and bubbles work so well together. No wonder you won an award and got frontpaged ; )

love the policeman's expression. Can't see that his hand is on backwards but it could just be me

Try a mechanical pencil; always stays sharp : )
For the anatomy studies, you'd be best off using a pencil to get the rough shapes and guidelines, then adding in details, because you can rub out mistakes easily. Pens are only really used for quick sketches; I don't know of any artist who uses a pen straight away for a piece of art unless it's a sketch.

It's an interesting idea, but the shading isn't consistent
what's it for? or is it just a random idea?

Which is fine, the only things I wanted were Left 4 Dead 2 and Death Troopers(it's a book mixing zombies and Star Wars lol). I could probably afford to get at least one of those for myself if my arts and crafts keep selling well.

to be honest they all do the same thing, so it doesn't really matter which wacom you get. I think the more expensive ones come with different nibs and are bigger with more controls, so they're better suited for professionals using them constantly. For me personally, the bamboo is perfect. Does exactly what I need it to do with little problems
also, size tends to reflect how big you like to make strokes when drawing, so if you tend to do great swooping strokes, the bigger the better; otherwise smaller is fine :3
might be worth looking into it more though

People say this but I've never seen another brand, not ever

What are the other tablet brands?

I know there's a 'trust' one out there, and I think 'genius' does them too, but wacom's the best known so don't think the others are so well known

why not just make some out of wood and paint? With some creative photography you could make them look like piano keys in the exact composition you want

sounds like a good idea
so we would post our image of what we want drawing and say something like "I'm up for an art trade" then? Obviously people might like to see what sort of stuff people can do, but they could probably just look at the poster's user gallery

Actually I don't have any either...

Can we use pictures we've done of characters we like the look of?

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted November 29th, 2010 in Art

Why not do a thread where people sign up to do art trades/collabs, then people can be matched at random and post their stuff in the thread
I'd definitely like to do one though
