I've been playing 10 hours, doing lots of sidequests n shit, and I've barely got to venice. Reviews said 18-20 hours for single player though.

It feels different to the first game - much more like a sandbox.

The only disappointment is one of the glyph puzzles has glitched and I can't finish it. Stupid 2 outer rings are locked wrongly together and I can't move to the outside one only. Argh.

Try exiting out of it, then go into database, the truth, select the red frame, and retry the glyph challenge. That's what I did.

It irks me how half the time everything's all dingy and depressing, but oh well.

Just got to venice after ~8-10 hours of gameplay (done a whole bunch of tombs and side quests and codex pages and shit), absolutely _LOVING_ it so far.

It's perfect, although a bit buggy. When storming San Gim with Mario's people early on, I scaled the wall, raised the gate, but the guys didn't come in and nothing triggered and it just asked me to raise the gate, so had to restart. And then just now, deciphering a glyph Forli, I entered the right code, it said I was wrong, I backed out and went in again, entered the same code and it let me through.

Still, it's amazing.

I've kept a list of all the feathers I've got so far, hopefully I'll get them all. I fully intend to try, at least.

Irritatingly, I've accidentally collected two feathers. One was on Vinci's workshop in Florence, the other half-way up a viewpoint in San Giminiano.

how is it? I've heard it's a huge improvement compared to the first game.

It breaks you in VERY slowly, I've put in a couple of hours gameplay so far and only just got out of the first area (which is, in all fairness, florence), but there was always just one mission followed by another, each introducing another concept (and there are LOTS more now).

That said, it's still amazing. It all just seems nicer. Easier to hide and distract guards and shit, more fighting options, lots of shit to do, no flags.

It's great.

Tipping isn't nearly as big in europe as it is stateside. Especially not with drinks. With a meal, you'll add 10% or so to the bill, but apart from that there's very little by way of tipping.

It irritated me how Soap talked to you all the way through the first half of the game, and then when Price arrived and you took control of Soap you didn't say a word.

Eh, I think you're thinking too hard about it. To me, writing thousands of lines of code for a database program seems not very different to writing thousands of lines of code for the back end of a game, and if I learnt anything over the summer before last, is that what you do in your job doesn't have that much to do with your overall opinion of it. I was answering phones in a car finance company, but I loved it because I got on well with everyone else there.

Hey, remember how everyone loved GTAIV and now they hate it? Remember how everyone loved Bioshock and now they hate it?

I'm not saying everyone will hate MW2 in 6 months, because they won't, but I'm just pointing out that you shouldn't get caught up in the hype. While MW2 is fun to play, it's delivered absolutely fuck-all new to the gaming market, except banning party chat in most playlists and shit. Wow great. It's an amazing game but it's done fuck all that COD4 didn't.

Not that it matters, we're all pretty accepting. I knew an american at school, and a couple at uni, and they're just like regular people except they can say all the states in the US alphabetically in one string without pausing.

I'd strongly recommend doing Maths A-Level, not only does is it a decent A-level in general, but it really helps. I have friends who in the first year had to do a catch-up maths module, forgoing a more interesting one to make sure they knew enough, and we're doing some more advanced maths this year that some of them are struggling with.

At least do an AS in it.

On scrapyard, there's an aircraft fuselage that is in an L-shape, and there's almost always someone camping on the corner of the L, on the inside. Shoot them there.

Actually, scrapyard's pretty good in general for that since most of the walls are just thin metal.

Bike was nicked.

Bummer.

Fingers crossed I'll be able to claim it on insurance, but it had been kept for a week at uni. They say that their insurance is good for "a designated cycle storage on campus for not more than 30 days", and mine was in a bike rack, but I bet they'll try and weasel out of it.

Still, it's a right cock. I have to walk 25 minutes in to uni, or I can bike in in 5.

Wank wank wank.

Surely you just need something like this:

where room.hasItem loops through everything that the room contains, room.remove just removes it from your room's list of things, inventory.add adds something to your inventory's list of things, and item.toString() returns a string representation (ie: the name) of your item, if you didn't know.

public void takeObj(Item item){
if(room.hasItem(item){
room.remove(item);
inventory.add(item);
}else{
System.out.println("You do not see "+item.toString());
}
}
