Response to: I need help with Sounds Posted February 27th, 2013 in Animation

like the dude above said, you can change your sound settings in the properties panel while the sound in your frames is selected. from "Event" to "Stream"

ctrl + alt + m is to mute, hit it again to un mute

as for action script, find a frame where you want the sounds to stop and put this in the blank key frame's action script:

stopAllSounds();

to change the export quality of sound, hit file > publish settings > audio (tab)
and change the quality to 64 and "Best"

Can you go ahead and shoot that list of pros and cons, Im curious how it compares with Animate Pro

I also am curious to hear this, because I know Peter has more exp with both programs.
I've seen his animations on stick page. But I believe that's 3D??

Flash vs Toonboom? Posted February 12th, 2013 in Animation

I've used both, and i've gotten REALLY familiar with flash, but enjoy the features of toon boom.
i feel with toon boom, i can make my animation look so much better than i could with flash.
but with flash, i can animate faster than with toon boom and it's laid out better.

the cons of flash is that it crashes more than it should and brush strokes are sloppy
the pros are that it's easy to use, better laid out, and can operate faster on it.

the cons of TB is that it takes ME longer to animate with it.
the pros are that it seems to look better and has a lot more features animation wise.(excluding action script)

which do you prefer, toon boom? or flash?

discuss.

if your filesize is an issue(i.e. exporting as swf) then you make the background at 300 DPI, and export as 90 DPI for the flash version, saving the 300 for a mp4 or avi export.
It was just more a question of which program can help with making detailed background but thanks for the info!

if you watch biteycastle series, all backgrounds are made with solid colors and gradients in flash, i would use his background for referance

Response to: How long does an animation take? Posted November 15th, 2012 in Animation

it all depends on the animator, the more you animate, the more familiar you get with it and you begin to learn techniques and other rules, and with that you can animate in less time.

it also helps to know flash inside and out, key shortcuts and etc.

just MY opinion

Animation Advice? Posted November 12th, 2012 in Animation

Hi there,
i'm a bit new to 'full body/cartoon traditional animation', but i'm not new to animation in general, i understand all of the rules like, easing, physics, flow, smoothness, following through, and etc. so I've got some potential

i used to animate stick figures :/ in flash 8, but I've wanted to move on for quite some time, but i'm not exactly sure where to start.
I've come here looking for some of the basic knowledge that some decent animators can give me, like for example: what are your techniques in traditional cartoon animation? are there some excersizes that i can get started with? how big is your penis?, where are some tutorials i can use for making those schnazzy POV backgrounds?, and etc.

i just want to know where i should start.

if you guys could help me out, that'd be awesome!

thanks.
