Response to: Oslo Explosion Posted July 22nd, 2011 in General

I've got a couple of friends who moved to Oslo these past years, they suddenly stopped answering their phones.

I'm no scientist or anything....but that doesn't give me the best feeling ever so to speak.

I'm not sure, but the fact that people died makes it big enough.

Funny that, how can something be "worthless" and "unrelated" in a LOUNGE on NEWGROUNDS.

SBB, please report in as soon as possible, seeing as you live in that city according to your profile.

BBC coverage

It looks pretty bad.

Yeah I also have a couple of irl friends who moved to Oslo, and the fact that I haven't been able to reach them doesn't give me the best feeling.

that might have been regarding the art portal....Lack of sleep messes with your head after ~40ish hours.

The redesign has been the longest running and most successfull april fools joke for years.

A hardware synth is way more interesting than McDJbazzboomerZ's cracked sylenth 1.
A studio picture would also show a certain producers "safe zone" (specific colors on the wall, certain lighting etc.....psychological stuff), which is way more helpfull for me than seeing how many instances of nexus someone can use in one project.

My DAW space on the other hand is a far more interesting story. It's fun to see how other people work differently in the environment you're so familiar with.

Putting stuff in the playlist and using the mixer for effects (same procedure, different DAW), like everyone else. :P

Seeing EVERYTHING isn't the point. Even seeing just a tad of a persons work flow can be fun.

That's entirely my point, you don't see someones workflow, you see a step somewhere in the middle, but that tells you nothing more than "omg he/she/it has tons of stuff here", not in which order such a mess was achieved or the next plan of action or even what's accomplished by doing said things (besides the obvious).

What effects do they whore? Which synths do they prefer? Do they name their channels or do they just sloppily go about their workspace like a meth junkie?

Well, you could just ASK...right? That has the same effect. The channel naming is pretty much pointless to know as we all will probably stick to our prefered method anyway.

You can learn a lot about a person from their electronic workspace.

Yes, you're all anti-minimalists.....and you like the wrong colors.

My opinion is that being able to do so is a sign that you know you're DAW inside and out/ are old enough to laugh at someone for unscrewing all their subtractor patches :p

How so? I could open up any random DAW, load all kinds of shit into it and printscreen, that doesn't mean I know how to even input a note :P.

However I could see it differently in a modular enviroment like reason.

Not bitter, just making fun. :P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P;D:DP:DPDSMILEYRAPEQWO P

Bollocks- it lets you share a glimpse of how you work with music. It's a perfectly good thread.

Showing a picture of 500 random clips and a kajillion random vsts doesn't really tell people how I work though. Neither would pretty colors or cute names on everything.

Anyway I'm not looking to argue, I just find that stuff pretty pointless.

Studio pictures on the other hand are quite interesting.

Whenever I mix the guitar, bass and keyboard it sounds excellent. Moment I slap in the drums... well you can hear the result. If I play the drums by themselves I have no problem either.

Is it supposed to be 500% dist on everything? :O

Sounds pretty good. A little repetitive, though. I would've liked a breakbeat part somewhere in the middle to give it a bit more variation. Still good.

There actually is one more breakbeat part in the radio edit of the remix. :)

Why do you guys even care about scores? It's not like NG is the only audio site on the internet, and most certainly not the "best" when it comes exposure and fame.

If a score hurts peoples feelings, go to soundcloud or myspace where there is no such thing...problem solved?

Or have Mich make a script that always make your score say 5.00/5.00 >:)

You can only delete a song by yourself if it has less than 3000 listens and hasn't been used in a flash submission.

So I guess I don't qualify for this love :(.

Response to: sylenth1 vs. z3ta+ Posted April 23rd, 2011 in Audio

From what I remember:
Z3ta+ works with wavetable synthesis making it much more fitting for lush, warm and unique pad sounds and atmospheric elements imo.

Sylenth1 is your basic (but oh so powerfull) subtractive synthesizer (3xosc, ts404, wasp (even subtractor for you reason lovers) etc). Mostly used for basses, leads etc

I'm sure they are both great for everything but comparing 2 different kinds of synthesis makes it very hard to make just case for which is "better".

Alphascan - Side by Side inc B0UNC3 Remix is now on spotify :)

If you like cheesy music or if the preview interested you check it out!
I'd recommend the Remix rather than the Edit since the Remix has a longer melody.
