I dunno man, I find that the only reason some of us doubt that there's anymore toom for growth is because we like to stick to what we know and to how we learned things through school...meaning that a LOT of the time we will be listening to something, and instently go into "this doesn't work the way I learned it" mode as opposed to just trying to listen to the song unbiased.

though every once in awhile someone will pierce right through all that, become a new hit, and soon become mainstream (aka Skrillex)

lol if you only have a demo of fl studio, I don't htink you would stick to it, took me 5 months of constantly tinkering with shit to even figure out basic 4/4 structure stuff (which some poeple lear in school and with research...yes...I learn better by doing)

another 3 months to even think I made SOMETHING worth listening to at least once....and even then I didn't even understand wtf the filters and the other stuff was...soundgoodized the shit out of everything XD

if I couldn't save what I did I woulda given up after the first week.

I'm so down with FL studio since I started a year n a half ago...only thing is, jsut because I'm still discovering new htings and I'm sure I haven't even gotten to know half the program, and it's poissibilities with sound are infinite...I haven't yetb othered to try out ableton T_T, I hear ableton is downright the EASIEST, BEST and LEAST CPU HUNGRY while MOST USER FRIENDLY program so far.

But I'm stuck with FL cuze I love it (and hate the amount of cpu it eats)

slower bpm---->easier to mix and easier to comprehend.

totally agree with the bpm comment, btw you ever tried to take a shortcut to making creative hip hop beats? EASY - AS - FUCK....you spend hours creating fast 160 to 175 bpm drum n bass....then you slow it down...and all of the instruments you worked so hard to make clear, become like 10 times clearer :D, it's awesome

E-D-M/ House Electro (but not complextro), look at all my last submissions, those are 4 or 5 of 15 that I continuasly create and work on O.o, no saying it's perfect, but it's easy to really get into and bob your head and feel boss when you realize you can dance to it XD

This may or may not have been already posted, but is there a way to see your music's stats (rating, reviews, etc etc) without having to make it play? cuze I suspect that increases the viewcount too every time I click to check....plus somehow, but that may be my computer's fuckup, sometimes the flash player freezes my browser for awhile.

Response to: Reviews Rating Posted December 23rd, 2012 in Audio

ah fuck...so you're saying when by example I rated a song 4 star or 5...and then sicne I thought it didn't affect the overall rating I voted again on the 1 to 5 eating, I gave it twice the rating?!?

Response to: A little mindfuck with ratings Posted December 22nd, 2012 in Audio

but most of the time I do have a 1 to 10 ratio D:

Include you, right?

To OP: dude, those stupid review of yours are really decent. People give you the right scores and they have pointed out what were wrong with your music. In fact I would embrace the feedback they gave rather than the scores. The review scores don't matter, unless it's voting score, but I don't think right now you don't deserve much for having high scores on either both.

Learn to take feedback, or you can never improve your skills.

okay...ONE - MORE - TIME

I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE SCORES...but I am new, so I was curious, I thought stuff always started at 0

and about the other thing you said, read the rest of what I said a comment above yours please.

and thing is, you are right, a lot ARE helpful, for instence one did tell me to reqork on the "graininess"...basically, of another song I made, and I fully agree with that, 100%, I couldn't play that shit too loud or the slight cool but messed up grain would fuck a man's ears x_x

all im saying, and re enforcing, is that telling someone politely that their stuff is shit, and giving a completely and utterly vague review doesn't help, anyone, EVER, or at all, because guess what? we are always and constantly working on those same things...and then we try to build something new.

Well, just out of curiosity I was checking your D'n'B song and to your disappointment I have to agree with several points of the "stupid" review.
Also, I have to say, that the "stupid" review had a very decent language, not offensive in any way and trying to be constructive.

and I'm telling you it's a matter of taste, telling someone who makes something out of the ordinary (like a lot of us btw) that doesn't have a horrible quality that it's not a song, is insulting, decent (and well spelled) language or not. Especially when leaving with a fake positive note like "keep working, you'll get it"

What I'm saying is that CONSTRUCTIVE critisism would would from what something is made of...not completely shut it off, though...I guess trying to justify myself isn't helping to convince anyone.

I personally would like to punch everyone who does that, but that's not possible so we'll just have to live with it ^^

true true, the other thing is, knowing that the array of music styles to cathegorize our stuff as is limited, sometimes I cathegorize stuff in DNB, but while knowing it's not...though, AGAIN, one of my most played songs...zero...2 out of the 3 revies I got were...not just harsh, but plain stupid...it's weird, like those two were basically telling me I didn';t make a song, at all, no harmonies, no set up, telling me to START studying structures and EVERYTHING ELSE...like what the fuck!?!?!? the worst part? I check out their shit, and it's garbage D:

AND!!!

some guys I actually give a constructive critisizm to, tell them it's a GREAT idea but needs variety and to tighten up the whole core of the drums,...he copies and pastes my review on to one of my songs D:

seriously What - the - fuck?!!??

A little mindfuck with ratings Posted December 22nd, 2012 in Audio

Not complaining since I don't really care as this is a website amongst others but...

Let's see, When I posted my music, some of em got a slight amount of attention, which is nice and all, downloads slowling piling up but neither review nore ratings...so I tried this tiny thing where I'd see what happened if I tried rating my own stuff...

weirdly enough the very next day, the songs that got the most views and downloads that I tried rating got really bad ratings whereas they were ignored before, and yet still get dled...why is that?

On youtube I THINK someone said that it shouldn't go above zero
is that true?

I'm still not sure abotu the whole db stuff though I know it

HOWVER

one of the main and simplest way to level your instruments is to
1. throw everything in the mixer (separate each instruments of course)
2. Make sure starting off that all of your synths and fx are in the green EXCEPT for you drums, let those be in the yellow
3. when you're actually done making every synths and adding every effects, level them accordingly through the mixer
4. reverbs; add different reverbs to certain synths and instruments so that the song gives off a feeling of "room"...as in...not flat on left or right but to varying degrees instead
5. add parametric EQ2 when necessary

then to add the last punch, ad maximus to the master and tweak it accordingly.

the more complicated/intricate ways follows afterwards on youtube videos
