Topic: Flash Movies do not fully load

Posted: 09/24/07 01:50 PM

Forum: Where is / How to?

Depending on the movie. Sometimes the movie will load to 100%, then just stop and not even give me a play button (such as animated preloaders). Most of the movies that dont work properly "DO LOAD", however the play buttons don't work or never show up.

I believe this has to do with custom/animated preloaders.

Forum: Where is / How to?

I've been having a wierd issue lately with certain movies. It always seems to involve
play buttons with more intricate actionscripting. The movies will start loading, but then
no play button will appear. And Madness: Deus Ex Machina loads but just sends me to the
loading screen anytime I press a play/sceneselect button.

loaded microsoft servicepack when I switched to new computer, not sure if that is cause.
But internet explorer wont even open newgrounds.

I think if you use the play( ); command afterwards, it negates the stopallsounds command.

Cheers!

When you upload a flash onto the internet, you have to wait before it loads before anything plays. I suggest putting in the Newgrounds preloader just so you can see if its loading.

Posted: 10/07/06 01:11 PM

Forum: Flash

Sometimes when I import a sound file, flash screws it up and cuts off the first few seconds. Normally I just fix this by deleting the sound file, "SAVE COMPACT" flash, then re-importing.

If this doesn't help, please describe your problem more specifically.

Maybe its because you're too lazy to give all the entries a 0, ensuring a quick trip to the graveyard. Stop complaining if you aren't going to take action.

Having actually looked at the flash now, I do believe its because you didn't include a preloader.

thats the kind of stuff that happens to me when I don't include a preloader. But if your problem includes not being able to do a live edit preview, then I would suggest copying the second half of the movie into a new file to see if it plays. More than likely you added something in (a horrible file/picture) and flash just rejects you for it.

Oh, and try doing a save/compact when its safe. That will often times reduce lag.

Topic: Flash Ide Constantly Crashing

Posted: 09/30/06 01:56 AM

Forum: Flash

I've suffered a recent crashing of FLash as well. My screen goes grey and refuses to let me click/save anything in flash. The only way I could get rid of the giant grey screen was if I CTR-ALT-DEL the program. Then as an added bonus, any flash files I saved during that flash section were negated to their origonal format prior to running flash.

This stupid crap happened to me after I used Internet Explorer to view a site, which then forced me to install flash 9. I deleted flash 9, and for a few weeks I haven't had any giant grey screens. I've had flash crash before from overload choking, but these giant-gray-virus-like screens are new to me.

Or maybe your memory is too low to handle alt-tabbing out of flash.

I believe if you export the image as a esp file, swift 3d can import the image, seperating the colors into individual objects.

Check your manual or the site if an esp file is the incorrect format.

Make a movie about a man killing things a pistol in a none specific place, then make sure to credit me!

How about no.

If you were serious about the script you would write a detailed PLOT and story. Not a "creepy house, or possibly, maybe a forest." You have no idea what you want.

THere are basic proportions, then there are REAL PROPORTIONS. People are made differently, they are different hieghts. Some people are deformed, boney, or oddly short. There should be a figure drawing art class at your school, or you could stalk park walkers with a sketch pad.

Otherwise you could google up "best figure drawing books" or just check your local library for figure drawing/ human anatomy books. My library has plenty of art books that I'm just too damn lazy to look at.

I suggest you post a sample of your artwork now. Most people do not want to start work with someone when they don't even know what he/she is even capable of.

If the game art you plan to use is great, i'm sure you will get offers, much quicker.

Or if all else fails, paste the sound again in a new layer. THen you have 2 copies of the same sound going off at once.

You have to rightclick and "OPEN IN NEW WINDOW". Its more like a safeguard created by flash to prevent you from editing a symbol thats being used somewhere else (aka symbol is part of a tween).

I believe generalized approval is the best way. BA's are completely worthless because of the clock day shit, or even people self voting for 2 weeks to reach BA limit... That and people like me like to keep their shitty old flash cartoons, even if they have horrible scores, thus lowering my BA drastically.

And basing people based on portal awards is idiotic. Portal awards are just grab-bags that you might happen to get by chance, unless, you are someone who hounds the portal night and day, waiting for really low scoring top submissions. Ive seen plenty of high scoring movies not get awards, solely due to the fact the portal was already flooded with high quality films.

If you are tweening, use 15+ FPS

If you are starting with FBF, I suggest 12 FPS. It's not the best, but its still very watchable.

The due date for updates? Because I was told I had until the 15 to slack. Not to say I can't have something sorta done by the end of tonight.

I think I told you I would be gone for a concert from monday until thursday night, unless that was someone else. If so, then oops :(

IN the word BEATLES, move the "ATLES" closer to the E so it just barely touches. Because right now there is an odd gap between just those two letters.

Oh and I'll start working on the part, will be gone most of next week, but might be done by then.
