How about this, since you can't create a button (a more "basic" thing to do then most other(s) in the world of flash) go buy the book "Beginning Flash/Game Programming" for Dummies by Andy Harris.

The second project you do on the book (After "Hello World") is creating a button.
It's a great book for beginners.
