Geez. i'm just honored that this thing is getting the responce this is getting. We had no intention of turning this into a series but it just kinda happened. Yeah, it's dark and sick, like most of my work, but that's the kind of humor that makes me laugh and I'm glad to see other people are liking it as well.
I guess i'll give a little history on how it started. as usual, me and my friend Bryan Mahony from Hankandjed got together one night to come up with some ideas for our next cartoon. This was right after "Santas Last Stop" recieved 3rd place in the Christmas contest and we were discussing how fun it was to see classic characters in bad situations. this led to us recording a short that involved the Monoploly Guy trying to get a loan from a bank. After laying down the audio for that we went on my back portch and were coming up with more bad situations when i said, "It'd be funny to see Mickey Mouse whoring himself out for money." That was a good idea but what sealed it was when I came up with the voice for Mickey.
After laughing for 20 some odd minute, we went in and recorded the audio for Prostitute Mickey 1. It was way funnier than the Monopoly guy thing so we threw that out. In the end we had a solid, dark little short that we thought was pretty funny and people seemed to dig it as well.
We had no intention of doing a sequel, but we got together on another night and realized what kind of potintial we had with the whole Disney-verse gone to hell idea. Then the idea of Goofy as a drug junkie got us going so we knew we had to do it. That night we recorded Prostitute Mickey 2, which orriginally had the Monopoly guy as mickeys land lord and Goofy only made one apperance. Goofy obviosly was such a strong character that we kept him coming back through the short and it turned out much funnier to us.
Now we keep coming up with more and more ideas for these characters so i think they are definently going to stick around for a while. i dont know how many we'll do before we get bored with it but as long as we keep coming up with funny situations to put mickey in we'll keep the series kicking. Episode 1 and 2 now feel like they are an introduction to the world and I imagine episode 3 will feel more like a sitcom.
As for our next cartoon there will be a Mario parody next called "Mad Mad Mario", and then Prostitute Mickey 3 may follow that. After that we'll probobly do something else and then a Prostitute Mickey 4 maybe. I think it will be good to do something else in brtween the Mickey series. I get some flak for my animation style being a bit minimmal and, honestly, i agree with most peoples comments. The thing with us is that we want to bring you guys more cartoons, more quickly than most people. We like to think what makes our shorts good is the quality of the dialog and we try to cram as many jokes into each short as we can. My personal goal is to relase a new short every 2 or 3 weeks so long as I have the time. One day we can hire a badass animator to help us out maybe. :)
Everyone should really check out the website, Hankandjed.com. They have some really good short films that I think you guys might dig. i reccomend watching "Warped Galaxy" for sure, and alot of people like "Kill Yourself: The Movie" This was supposed to be a secret, but what the hell: Right now we are pitching a Hank and Jed variety show to all the major networks that consist of their shorts and some unreleased cartoons we have made that I was heavily involved in. We've gotten a good response from a couple of networks so keep your fingers crossed. if we get a show picked up, i'll be sure all of newgrounds knows about it.
Sorry for the long post, i'm sure its full of spelling errors that I dont feel like going through and checking. keep on watching my stuff and if you have any questions about me, or hank and jed, fell free to ask.
Later fellas. :)
