This is a really great idea and has the potential to generate a lot of really good poems. However I am sad to see the first few entries are basically spam/retarded attempts at some lulz.

Best of luck to your contest and its contestants!

I taught myself how to juggle over a year ago. I still do it occasionally for fun. I even made my own balls out of old jeans that I sewed together and stuffed with rice!
I can juggle 3 and 4 balls easily, and I've tried going for 5 a few times but never had any luck. It's still a pretty neat skill to have I suppose. Good for parties!

Looking at it now though, yea, that is absolutely shaped like a dildo. I doubt it was intentional however.

Agreed.
While I think it should have some meaning for you personally, it shouldn't have to be this incredibly detailed symbol of whatever the hell it is you're trying to convey. If you like some piece of art you've found or designed and it is special to you in some way, I see no reason beyond that necessary to get it tattooed on your person.
I also think that worrying about "explaining it to your grandchildren" is just stupid. You may die well before then. If you want something, go for it now while you have the opportunity. Just don't do anything stupid like tattoo your face, unless you plan on joining a gang or the circus.
/endrant

I think the Zero tattoo is a great idea :) That was one of my favorite movies when I was young, and I am still quite fond of it. I cannot draw, so I can't really help you out on a design, but I hope you find someone to make a really nice design for you!

Shaman King (more precisely Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang, the reprint of some chapters of Shaman King and the new ending) finally ended the other day. I have to say that, although I haven't really read any other mangas, Shaman King is definitely my favorite :)
And now that it's over, I'm sad and have nothing to occupy my time with anymore. Except for, ya know, the internets and stuff.

Just finished Life: Evolution Explained by Philip Whitfield the other day. Fantastic book that gives a really good overview of evolution.

As of yesterday I started on American Theocracy: The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century by Kevin Phillips. Got through the first chapter and I must say it is quite the interesting read so far.

Once I finish that (which will hopefully be by the end of the month), I'm going to go out and get a copy of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Been meaning to read that for a long time.

By the looks of it, it's probably so no name Chinese brand hookah. May be made to look Egyptian, but it lacks the quality of a good hookah.

If you're looking to purchase a hookah, the three brands I'd tell you to look into would be Magdy Zidan, Mya Saray, and Khalil Mamoon. I'm guessing this is your first hookah? The best starter hookah is the Mya QT hookah. Can be found fairly cheap on many sites. PM me for more information and some online discount codes.

Peace.

Oh and I really don't mean to double post, I'm sorry. I thought I'd share with you all some useful mp3's and a flash program to help those who wanted to achieve lucid dreaming or OBEs.

http://www.lucidology.com/timer/

Just put in a name and your email, and you'll get sent a page to allow you to download some mp3 files and a LD timer which has instructions on how to use. That site is run by someone I've known for a long time from another forum, and many, many people have had success with his techniques.

Good luck everyone!

Topic: Lucid Dreaming

Posted: 04/25/09 09:57 AM

Forum: General

Alright so this was interesting and at least worth posting here for those interested.

I have been spending some time this week studying lucid dreaming and out of body experiences (again; tried this stuff before and never got anywhere with it). Anyway, last night I believe I had what one would call a lucid dream about having an out of body experience. It was probably the coolest thing I have ever experienced while dreaming. I'm still having trouble deciding if it was really just a lucid dream or if it was really an OBE.

Basically, I became lucid in my dream and then I guess I tried to have an out of body experience from there, within the dream. So I was trying all this stuff out like going through walls and flying. I could only barely get my hand to melt with the wall, but it was really neat. And flying didn't work. It felt so much like real like that when I jumped forward to fly, I actually "imagined" (I guess) gravity, and I fell down. I remember looking at my body wrapped up under the covers with just my head barely visible. And then last I remember going back into my body to end the OBE/lucid dream, then I suppose I dreamt some more and then woke up this morning not knowing what to think.

It was really amazing. I hope I can have more experiences like that; it's been years since I actively tried lucid dreaming or having OBEs, mainly because I stopped believing in some of it for scientific reasons. But I can't argue with first hand experience, so whatever it was that I had (which I'm thinking is just some sort of altered state of consciousness experience), it was really fantastic.

Well wait till the flying car actually does come out! In production now!

Still wouldn't buy it unless it can also turn into a robot.

But seriously, how are they going to make something like that affordable for the general public? Especially now where no one is buying cars because the car companies are going in the shitter?

At 4/24/09 01:00 AM, AniMetal wrote: This is to all the atheist users, have you ever felt like people feel uneasy around you when they learn that you are an atheist?

When I told my parents i'm an atheiest when I was a lot younger it caused a ton of uneasy feelings for about a month and I doubt it was a coincidence that they started bringing me to church with them a few months later against my will.

Has anything similar ever happened to you guys?

Just a few months ago I came out to my parents about being an Atheist. My mom is still a little uneasy about it, but I don't really think my dad cares so much. Both my parents are Catholic, however they recognize many of the fallacies in the religion and the church. I was raised Catholic, went to CCD (which is basically Catholic brainwashing class) up to 8th grade, got confirmed, and soon after become Agnostic and then Atheist. All the while I was going to church and those classes I had a lot of questions no one could or would answer for me, and I began really doubting the validity of that religion.

Now presently, I have studied a few religions fairly extensively and am more comfortable talking about religion with others and presenting my arguments from an Atheist standpoint. However it doesn't help living in the Bible Belt; so many church going whackjobs here that get really upset when I tell them I don't believe in God. Luckily I have found friends who are also Atheists, and some who are religious but don't mind discussing their beliefs and can tolerate our Atheistic discussions.
