I was not aware Tim was without a tablet... that's a real bummer but I'm glad he's getting a new one! So far you've picked people who seem to be really deserving, and that makes me go :)

I need a new tablet cause my shitty graphire 4x5 is falling apart and starting to die, but I can easily afford my own so I won't try to take this opportunity away from people less fortunate :(

You are an idiot. This shit isn't funny to average people and it DEFINITELY isn't funny to people who actually visit 4chan on a regular basis and know there are some things that should simply stay on the internet. I hope your friends DO leave you forever.

I am soooo happy Fucking Kids got some recognition. It deserved to win a prize, but because most of the people who watched it were squealing 11 year olds it got an incredibly low score for such a well-animated piece. I'm glad the score rose up again and that Mr. Esala is getting some nice $$$

the moral of the story is, if you're going to try and draw a character from a game, don't just scribble over madness sprites.

that looks decent. Try and fit the style of the shading a little more-- subtler color differences, fewer highlights, etc.

Shpongle, I really want your pirate :C Flash is consistently refusing to open it, and giving me an "unexpected file format" error. Can you think of any reason this might be happening?

oh jeebus, are you using CS4? I totally didn't think anyone was actually using it yet. If CS4 has a capability to save as a CS3 file format, you ought to use it, cause that looks really nice and I'd love to put it in. Regrettably, I cannot open the file :C

I'm really surprised with how many I've been getting. Keep drawing >:D

I'm iffy about putting Link in. This was mostly about original characters -- everything I've recieved so far has been an original character, except for a remarkably subtle Jack Sparrow cameo and I was planning to put him in anyway.

I've changed the style a bit to fit with yours.
I can also animate him if you want.

I think your file is broken. It's 17 kb and flash is telling me it's an unexpected file format.

ok guys it is important that your pirate fits with the style of the game :/ i.e. brown outlines the same color as everything else. It's nice, dude, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't fit :C If you want to just recolor it and thicken the outlines it'd be wonderful.

HELPFUL FACTOIDS

I drew everything in this game at 400% zoom with the 4th smallest brush on 40% smoothing. Yes, the 4's are a coincidence. The outline color is #3C311A. I need approximately 1 billion more pirates.

these are great, continue :D

it's good dude, but can you thicken the lines and make them all brown? Right now it looks very out of place and I don't want to alter it too much :)

OK, so I am making this game and in it there is a store/bar area. I wanted to have a random cycle of pirates on the bar stools, and I was going to put in a bunch of cameos of artists I like-- but then I had a lovely idea. I would simply ask the artists themselves to contribute! I asked a few, and they said sure, and then I had an even better idea! I would post this on public forums for anyone to see and help with, provided they have a bit of artistic talent :) You see, this shows that I am all about community collaboration and am a fabulous guy who wants everyone to work together. lmao how gay

anyway, if you're interested, HERE is the template fla and HERE is a little shot of the area you are working with. Try to remain close to this kind of muted color palette, and your pirate should be roughly facing the bar.

PS: I won't accept your pirate if it clashes too much with the rest of the game - use your common sense :)

I'm a bit handy with a carving knife myself, so perhaps I'll enter this contest, if only for a chance to win some bizarre stuff I've never heard of.

One other thing though-- you guys need some advertisers who actually use Flash well. These adventure quest ads are some of the shoddiest, poorly done things I've seen, and I've been seeing them for years now and they only get worse. I know advertising is what keeps you fat n happy but it bugs me quite a bit >:V
