4.07 / 5.00 13,902 Viewswould you all stop being so fucking petulant? the art forum is not yours just cause your sad-sack ass has nothing better to do than strut around and recite 'rules' like it's some shit everyone ought to know. nor is it your noble right/obligation to get all sweaty and nervous when big brother starts brutalizing you and changes a line of text, especially if you never actually had any administrative power to begin with and your 'influence' as a 'reg' is based only on the esteem of other 'regs' and the best response you can come up with is to spam your own board. I'm seeing posts where people try to argue that because the art forum has developed its own creed and code of conduct independent of the 'official rules' those rules must remain set in stone purely by virtue of their obsolescence. this is some cognitive dissonance shit up in here and a whole lot of people are missing the point
what makes you think anyone would believe this garbage
personally, that rule's been bothering me since 2006, but i guess my four years of irritating hassle is another dude's four years of opportunities for self-gratification through obedience
don't see much tintin fanart around here, especially not any as... unique as that one. good shit, but the first one is a total ripoff of catoblepas's stuff, right down to the little details. inspiration is all fine and good, but try to take it somewhere new
this is really basic. in fact, i really don't even know where to begin. are you having trouble with the skills themselves, or only making the QTE reaction time dependent on them?
btw, don't use QTE's. they're a lazy excuse for genuine gameplay :(
DST is a joke. wish Minnesota would abolish it and save everyone the headache.
wait till you see my sweet ass-jacket
I assume you mean a horizontal platform moving around a central axis, ferris-wheel style, and if so I hope you paid attention when you learned trigonometry in school because that's all you need here. google the basics and study up -- there are also a few tutorials out there on how to use trig with Flash, for instance this one by Kirupa.
I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'm also not sure what's going on in that .swf. If you're trying to make the vanishing animation play while the bouncing action continues, that ought to be extremely straightforward, and I'm not sure where you're encountering a problem. posting the .fla would probably help us figure out what you're doing wrong, but I THINK you're probably mixing timeline animation with scripted movement in a way Flash doesn't like.
Scenes are a pain and rarely worth using, unless you've got a lot of wanky layers going on. If you really think you can't avoid them, I'd suggest putting each of those scenes in a graphic and putting each of those on your main timeline (in a single scene). give them both enough frames to run to completion, then stick your music/other sounds on the main timeline, overlapping both. if it's something more closely tied to the animation, like lip-synced dialog, you'll probably want to keep them on the same timeline for convenience, but for music and other 'ambient' sounds the method I explained ought to work for you.
I've used 8, CS3, and CS4, and of all of them CS3 is the most reliable. 8 is hideous, crashes every hour or so, and is clearly outdated in many ways. CS3 is the first version released by Adobe, and IMO it's the last version where they made any substantial improvements to Flash's interface and performance, as well as the last version where they added anything useful -- namely AS3. CS4 took everything good about CS3 and shat all over it, jammed in a few worthless 'features' that almost nobody bothered using, AND somehow managed to make the program crash nearly as often as 8 did. it's all gloss and no substance, and I'd bet CS5 is even worse.
grrr women suck so much, why are they all such vacant whores? GOD I JUST CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS
MUST GO TO NEWGROUNDS AND TALK TO MY FRIENDS ON THE BBS ABOUT CIRCLEJERKING OH WAIT

DEAR MODS, KINDLY DELETE PREVIOUS POST
you still have no friends, and if you seriously based your real-life social behavior off of online forum postings then it doesn't surprise me one bit

it doesn't matter how much emphasis you put on your characters if you can't draw anything else. little people floating in a void are fine for doodling, but if that's all you draw (or if all you do is doodle) it's a sign you need to challenge yourself.
what a bunch of nerds
meanwhile in the art forum lounge, everyone is hugging each other
the main issues i see with your drawing are that his forehead is too low and his head is set too far forward. Whenever you're drawing a human head, remind yourself that the skull rests on the neck -- it's not some kind of cantilever thing, all the weight is directly on the spinal column and the throat. Secondly, the skull is, while not completely round, a fairly elliptical shape -- some people (aka the deformed) might resemble your image, but an average person has a domed, bulbous skull and a fairly high forehead. Look up facial anatomy and bone structure, and keep in mind that all the muscles and fat connect to the bones of the face, rather than just floating.
I think you made an account just to advertise this shit. fuck off. also
Where else could Legally Blonde meet The Ring?
I stopped reading right there. good lawd what a horrible way to introduce your show.
I lost all my fillings with my baby teeth, and since then I've kept pretty good care of them. Wore braces for 2 1/2 years, still wear retainers at night to keep them in line. Had a couple nasty surgeries related to a benign tumor on my gumline.
I've got an angry face sticker on my laptop, and I have my old monthly award for BB sitting on my bookshelf, but that's about it.
If you care about whether or not hipsters like a band you should probably disregard enjoying music
the real ones are funny enough as it is
1. don't use sprites. It's a terrible way to learn and a terrible approach to creativity.
2. if you're planning on editing sprites anyway, you might as well invest that effort into drawing. It'll pay off in the long run, and you won't be one of the dime-a-dozen kids tweening around sonic gifs
It really depends on the scale and quality, as well as the game mechanic, as well as whether you're doing the art or the programming, or if you're collaborating -- you can't compare the two, to be honest.
Stop going to a shitty school, and you'll stop seeing money wasted.
Do you even know what communism is?
oh hey can I lounge here for a while
