LOL I MET DRAGONFORCE DOES THAT COUNT!?

When I saw Rotting Christ, Mantic Ritual and Epicurean on a Thursday night in january there was also a HUMONGOUS snow storm that started two hours before the doors opened, and was still raging on even after the show had ended.

The only people that went to the show was myself, one girl and seven other guys: That makes nine people.

It was like we had our own private show: Rotting played for 90 minutes, Mantic for 45 and Epicurean for 45 as well.

After Rotting Christ had finished playing the storm was still raging on and they didn't want to send us out into the storm until it was over and so the nine of, all the members of all three bands and two of the security guards who were metal heads all sat around in a circle drinking till about 3 AM.

Do I win?

Dio - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, if he dies then silence will rein out into the world of good music.

Tool - Even though they aren't metal officially, I like to think of them as such because they influenced most prog metal bands today, sadly I don't own any of there albums(just heard a few of there songs) What albums should I get off the bat?

MissingJack - Welcome to the club! Just curious, when you saw the Metalcopypse tour(I was going to go to the one in Boston but I didn't feel like paying 40 bucks for a Tuesday night show) did the audience in general like High On Fire or was it just a few people like you? Cause i'd hate it if people didn't like em.

Riverside - YOU ALL NEED TO LISTEN TO THESE GUYS, seriously everyone in this club who likes either A.) Progressive Metal, B.) Ambiance or C.) Music that induces Revelation needs to buy all four of there studio albums.

Like, there first two albums and there 4th album are entirely comprised of nothing but win(There 3rd album is good, but has some filler tracks that sadly bring down the quality)

Riverside - The Same River

Define which genre I think the most brutal album of all time is.

I wouldn't be able to decide between "Thrash metal brutal" or "Technical/Brutal Death Metal brutal"

I always felt like K0rn take themselves as a joke, I really doubt they take themselves seriously at all.

Slipknot on the other hand, are the complete opposites and have even claimed that there 4th album is the most brutal album is the most brutal album ever released.

Musically, however, they sound totally different.

Either way, they both suck.

Also, I heard Blind Guardian opened for Slipknot for one show in 2008......WHAT THE FUCK?!

The Berserker
Warbringer on September 30th

and:
Vader
Decrepit Birth
Warbringer
The Amentia
Augury
Swashbuckle on November 5th.

I wanted to go to Heathenfest on the 3rd of this month but I didn't feel like going last minute, I heard the show sucked though so all is good!

Hopefully I'll see it when I go to London next week.

For all people looking into thrash metal look at this picture, mostly everything is gold. (Click on the picture again to zoom in larger, then scroll up and down)

Other bands not on pic(I think):
Bonded By Blood, Pro-Pain, Violator, Evile, Warbringer, Mantic Ritual, Gama Bomb, Warpath, Thrash or Die, Swashbuckle and Exorcist.

Then if you browse through this thread i'm sure you could find another five or six thrash metal bands.

Destruction...?

Swashbuckle are pretty good, but I prefer Mantic Ritual, Thrash Or Die and Warpath.

But Swashbuckle take the cake for best new aged thrash metal band to see live.

Give me a list of what subgenres in Metal you consider Real Metal though...

Any genre of music that has "Metal" in the name is REAL metal with the soul exceptions of NU metal, Metalcore and Glam/Hair Metal.

Genres like viking metal and pirate metal are real metal bands, but not official genres.

And no one said you couldn't talk about Machine Head, aren't they Bill's favorite band anyway?

The thing about deathcore is it isn't metal enough to liked by death metal fans and it isn't melodic enough to be liked by metalcore fans, so most deathcore bands are just as underground as most metal bands.

But then some make it big like Bring Me The Horizon and The Black Dahlia Murder.

This is also how it is for emocore(Simple Plan, MCR) and NU metal(Linkin Park, K0RN)

But then metalcore and screamo both have a TON of popular bands.

I still love Reign in Blood. :(

How do you say overrated in a non-offensive way?

Let's not start predicting how those years will handle metal until they're close. Hardly anything has been scheduled for a 2011 release. The most I know that's coming out in 2011 so far is DragonForce...

I'm just saying, 2011 is such an ugly year though as opposed to 2012.

Most bands will be like "LET'S WAIT TO RELEASE IT IN 2012 CAUSE IT'S SUCH A AWESOME SOUNDING YEAR"

So yeah.

Also how many albums will be released and how many music festivals do you guys think will be on December 21st 2012? I'm betting a LOT.

There are a lot of bands putting out new albums either this year or next year.

2009 is a great year, 2010 will be just as great, 2011 will probably will be an average year but 2012 should be amazing!

Wow, I guess I do pay enough attention to trendy music. I thought I was completely out of the loop with what's popular these days. Then again, I must have read enough about these genres in here.

Only a few Deathcore bands like Bring Me The Horizon are popular, only a few emocore bands like Simple Plan are popular and only a few NU metal bands like K0RN are popular, most deathcore, emocore and NU metal bands are just as underground as most metal bands.

Metalcore and Screamo however, are just as mainstream and popular as pop(In this day and age, in teenage populaces)
