Nevermind, we got a taker.

Also, notice how when there's only one medic (or one good one and one that sucks), he shoots to the top of the scoreboard?

This is epic. We should try this on an empty server at some point, and make as large a sentry lineup as possible.

Yeah, that server has a 3 engie cap, so we could've only had ONE more set of engies.

12 on 12 would be hard to coordinate, and emptying out the ammo would be easier by having more people on hand (emptying THEIRS would be an issue), but 'twould be epic.

Nah, I don't try to kill him - I just hit 4 times with the Ubersaw, and then GTFO of there.

Typically what I'd do.

I went sandvich-eating heavy last night (Changed my name to Pacifist Heavy), and I got killed left and right. Except by two people, another heavy that nom'd right along with me, and an engineer, after I was nommin' on his dispenser.

Oh, and a medic was healing me at some point.

"Alex, you're useless, why am I healing you?"

I got 15 points with 1 kill, no assists. 'Twas fun. =D

Quick question.

You find yourself in this situation. You find a lone heavy. Just eating his sandvich.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

On the first stage of Badwater, there are dozens of points SGs can be outflanked, outranged, or simply knocked down by ubers like bowling pins.

Once there is a fortress on the roof, however (one doesn't work. Need at least two), the enemy team simply cannot advance. It's difficult even to assault the roof, unless the roof guardians are complete idiots, because of the number of sentries, as well as numerous dispensers and teleporters constantly bringing reinforcements to fight the advancing enemy on the flank.

I've seen many games won this way. Almost all of them, in fact.

Exactly. The first point is way too out in the open. I've seen it held, just not very often. The roof is a much better place to build, and if you have a few people guarding the engies, there's no way you can lose.

However, the instant the engie is left alone and they charge in with an uber... game over, pal.

Even on the server I play on, where engies are buffed to hell and back, it's hard to hold a point by yourself. Said buffs are being able to build two dispensers, quick build, and costs to build a sentry is 125, and 75 for everything else.

"OMG DATS SO OVERPOWERED!!!"
It's not.

Engineers have so many counters it's not funny, and the reason is because a sentry nest with some team members defending it is unbeatable. A sentry nest with an engie alone... a single soldier/pyro/heavy/demo/spy/any ubered class can take it out. Not to mention a sentry is a priority target.

...Engineer need an update. =(

One or two simple pointers would be nice. =3

That is SO true...also, you gotta hate the engie that I call "pessimistic" because they build everything on the last point, "just in case", but they don't realise that this way they're helping what they're trying to prevent (the enemy from advancing)...they just assume that the team sucks and that they can't hold the damn point....

Well, in Badwater, I build on the roof immediately after building a teleporter closer to the first point. Mainly because I don't know where an effective spot would be there.

So you get insta-backstabs?Cool, although yeah, the revolver/ambassador is much better...

No, no. Crits regularly. They do critical damage, but not a backstab. Backstabs are always 600% of your max HP. Hence, Dead Ringer Spies takes 75 damage from a backstab (125×6×0.1).

I suck at demo. And I only play sniper when I deem is practical to have a mid-range weapon that does a ton of damage and throw jars of piss at groups of people. Jarate is SO useful for clearing a point.

I've also come to the conclusion that you can't play engineer alone, you need at least two engineers working together. Otherwise their crap gets blown to smithereens in minutes.

At 10/8/09 02:44 AM, FurryDemon wrote: I don't think they will. If I heard correctly it's actually something they intended to keep, all I'd do is try to hide or uncloak and attack with the knife or pistol.

At least the knife crits regularly now. Although it's more practical to whip out the revolver for 100+ damage.

180? Try 140.

Yeah, and the Blutsauger doesn't do much for me right now. I'm more of a "I'm healing you, get in there" kinda Medic. And 30 damage from burns over 10 seconds is much better than 60. Not to mention that the Kritz taunt means you don't have to worry about burning to death while you're safe from enemy fire.

Nope, this is never going to happen. The Overhealer is just way too overpowered. You can just overheal a whole team at the start of the match, and they'll just dominate. Seriously, Heavies with 600 health that doesn't decay?

Whoa there, the Beta Overhealer heals to 150% like any other Medigun, and it's heal rate is 50%. This means you can heal the entire team to 150%, but you can't be a pocket medic since you don't heal anywhere near fast enough.

and the Gloves of Running Urgently when we get those.
Yes, this is urgently needed. Personally I'd probably welcome the change if they removed the crit effect with the KGB, and gave you the speed boost when armed with them.

Although the HP debuff that comes along with it is a bit steep. (-100 HP or -6HP/s while in use)

With 100 slots, Dupes will have to be for something.
Well, that much we know. Trading etc, is but one avenue that's expected to come from all these. Hopefully Valve will let us know soon.

It's been too long though.

Then, maff.

6 items per class (upcoming updates and whatnot)
9 classes

Surely, the Misc slot will give us something, not to mention the Overhealer (maybe), and the Gloves of Running Urgently when we get those. With 100 slots, Dupes will have to be for something.

So now I keep them.

Before defend/attack capture point games, I always like to play as Spy and walk up to the attacking teams respawn gate. I look at one of the enemies, then disguise as them right in front of their eyes, repeatedly saying 'Yes' as their character. It puts them on their toes.

The Sandman. Stunning a sniper waaaaay out in the distance still makes me giggle. XD

If you don't have it, you have to be good at spumping (spinning+jumping)...like TBK...I typed "spy" with the voice comm, and he spun around while jumping and spinning his minigun...he's getting better :D

Yup.

Adding on to this point, you can make a small medpack that heals 20.5% oh your HP to a 50% one; just toss your sandvich and pick the pack up.

Second, while it could be useful, losing your only other form of attack seems a bit problematic. Yeah, you're alive, and your medic is alive, but if you run outta ammo, all you can do is run for ammo.
Well, any Sandvich wielding Heavy faces this issue. It really depends if you want to use your shotgun, or if you're comfortable enough with the minigun to not be a fool and waste it all. I'm a pretty decent Heavy, and I only RARELY ever run out of ammo. It's the idiot heavies that just walk around spraying bullets when there's no-one there that run into this issue.

I'd like to think I'm decent too, but it's not only running out of ammo, it's the fact that revving up can cost you your life if you can't react immediately. Sure, you should have your shotgun for this situation, but fists is the only other form of immediate attack. Albeit a short ranged one.

While we're on the subject of the sandviches, does anyone else get the two second delay to pick the sandvich up, or is that just me?
Must be just you, for me it heals 50% instantaneously.

Hmm... I guess I'll check it out next time I play.

First off, it's not 50 HP, it's 50% of your HP. Like a medium medpack.

Second, while it could be useful, losing your only other form of attack seems a bit problematic. Yeah, you're alive, and your medic is alive, but if you run outta ammo, all you can do is run for ammo.

Granted, it's a moot point since you'll probably die before you run out of ammo, but considering that the medic is healing you, you can just pick up another medpack and get another sandvich. Besides, letting the medic heal you lets them build up their ubercharge faster.

Nice find, though. =D

While we're on the subject of the sandviches, does anyone else get the two second delay to pick the sandvich up, or is that just me?

Also, I'm new here. I may post with some frequency.
