Response to: Any AS2 users still out there? Posted December 14th, 2011 in Game Development

For the casual developer you can go with AS2, when I just want to do stuff for shits and giggles or for fun I use AS2. AS2 isn't nearly as powerful as AS3, and you really need to move to AS3 if you want more powerful applications. AS2 gave me a great background of programming before I am moving onto other languages like C++, etc.

Looking For Farming Game Artist Posted December 14th, 2011 in Game Development

The game is a 4 player co-op farming game, essentially based off of Harvest Moon. I have a decent amount finished that shows the direction that the game is going and that it's not bullshit. I've put in a lot of work and it kind of dropped off a while back when the artist I originally had planned never contacted me again and I just kind of did other things. I'd really like to not have all this work go to waste and I'd like to finish this and make some money. Profits will be split 50/50 and I'd like to add some micro transaction payments later on (Way down the road).

I'm at a point where I don't want to use place holders and I'd like to implement things as I get art, just so I have a solid, steady idea of where I'm going and what to do next.

If you're interested, post here, PM me, MSN (WLM) at saltedtatortot@hotmail.com or Salted-tator-tot on steam. Don't email using the hotmail as I won't check it. If you post examples of what you can do, I'll give you a demo of what I have done. All the art needed will basically be that of what's in Harvest Moon and I'll have a list as well, once we have things more established.

If you don't have a fetish then you wouldn't understand, they're like any other fetish. It's not like gays, pedos, or furries really make a choice to have a sexual attraction to whatever they like, they're just more discriminated against (Pedophilia I understand because it affects humans too young to make conscious decisions in most cases) because they're more mainstream in the sense that more people acted out in their urges in a bad or illegal situation.

Also don't expect a really balanced multiplayer, it's extremely fun but some other people who lag or have shit like the laser cannon or melta gun or that big fucking hammer will pretty much always kill you at one point or another.

Response to: Space Marine Posted September 11th, 2011 in Video Games

It's an amazing game, the single player is pretty linear, however it's long as hell and it does get challenging (It's really fun). The multiplayer is great, you need make sure your internet connection doesn't suck because lag will get you killed. The first levels before you get the customizing options, you really need to keep copying other people's loadouts or else you just get stomped by people with better shit. I found it was really worth the 50 bucks, a must buy for anyone who loves Warhammer 40k universe and/or games like gears of war. (IMO Better than gears of war by a long shot)

I've been playing the beta and it's really good, it's not perfect since it's beta, but for what it has now it's extremely fun. The only problem is that it's really hard (realistic), look up gameplay videos of the beta on youtube. It's the most fun joining a full server of 64 people and having a realistic war going on. It has some lag issues which have been addressed apparently and should be fixed by release, otherwise they just updated it today and they fixed some issues, so the devs are definitely still active during the beta.

I just started playing Sc2 again, I've been getting into it more. If anyone is interested in playing with me or anything, add me on battle.net. I've been learning zerg and used to play protoss, I'm definitely not the greatest but I'm not completely terrible (usually).

I really don't like doing 1v1 all that much, if anyone wants to do a partner thing for 2v2 or other ones I'm up for it. I just really like working with someone and having the communication.

Press Q to switch tools and click to use them.

It's a little glitchy because I just quickly put the placeholders in there by rotating the previous sprites

This'll be the last bump, but I've been really bored and still haven't had my original artist come back, and would really like to work on this project. I have just about everything planned out with how it will all work and I really would just like to have the art done so I don't have to replace everything in the end. Anyone interested e-mail me, msn, PM.

I got it sent to me from my other computer, so here is the demo of it. It doesn't seem like much and it still has a long way to go, but all the farmland is made of 50x50 tiles that are dynamically placed. Press tab to show the overlay and it has the date/time system working, it just doesn't switch days yet, but each month is implemented with the correct amount of days (I'm just waiting to finish all that once I get other things done).

Demo

I've been working on a harvest moon game for a while now, and I had made plans with an artist to do the animations and stuff for it, but I haven't been able to contact him for a while and he hasn't responded to any messages. So I wanted to see if anyone was interested in doing the art. It basically works like harvest moon, there's a tile-based grid for the farmland, and you plant crops, mine ore, raise animals, etc. I've got most the basic game working with the grid system with a dynamic map for each season, etc. There are four seasons, and a regular calendar (with the exception of leap year). I currently have the time/date system implemented and working, the tile map, an inventory system with shop that works (just not implemented), and boundaries. What would I would end up needing would be:

- Player animations (Male&Female? Or one)
- Each tile for each terrain for each season
- Some npc animations
- Map outside of tiles
- Buildings / Insides
- UI
- Plant animations (Growing, etc.) / Stumps, Rocks, Weeds, Etc.
- Animals
- Fences, etc.

If anyone is interested, it would be nice to have Windows Live Messenger or Steam or something, but e-mail me or PM me. I do plan on not making this completely shitty, so I'm actually putting work to get this to happen. I'd prefer a more clean art style, but just post some kind of example if interested. I don't have the demo on this computer at the moment, and if you've seen my previous games I have definitely become a better coder than what I was and I'll post the demo soon. I am open to any ideas that are feasible and would improve the game, I do have a write up of most things that I planned on doing that the previous artist made.

Should my original artist get back to me and become interested before any real progress is made with the art, I am going to have him do it, but from what it seems I doubt he will.

Someone say prepubescent boys?

I am duplicating a movieclip within a movieclip.

_root.Ground.duplicateMovieClip("ground","dirt"+_root.damt,100);

It duplicates fine, however when I try to set a property of it it doesn't work. I tried these without them working.

_root[Ground["dirt"+_root.damt]]._x = 100;
_root.Ground["dirt"+_root.damt]._x = 100;

Any help would be appreciated, or any link to how the _root[] works because I couldn't find an explanation for it.

Yeah, same here. And good PC parts here are expensive as hell.

Someone is simple or something, you don't have to buy shit to keep computers running. Once you have something, it's pretty much there for years upon years and will run at the same consistency with the potential for upgrading. Consoles pretty much consist of cheap hardware and over-priced everything. The only time you really need to buy shit to keep them running is if you neglect the computer and it gets damaged, I'd say a computer that was custom-built will last longer than a console before needing repair or fixes to hardware.

Response to: Black ops for pc or ps3? Posted November 14th, 2010 in Video Games

PC FPS are (almost) always better than console FPS, unless it's supposed to offer some new, innovative gameplay. The reason that is, is that all console FPS are basically just aim-assist-up-the-ass controls and really just makes every FPS on console the same. The people who think they're good because they can get good scores on console games are still inferior to many PC players.

I bought an xbox a little while back, after being an avid PC gamer for a while and I basically owned everyone because they are so terrible at games such as halo and mw2. It literally just aimed for me, which I wasn't used to and I pretty much combined that with actual aim I'm used to with PC and it was a joke.
