Is it even a priority to get this chatroom up? It can't possibly be taking over a year to put "finishing touches" on a chat client.

I want to see a Newgrounds Chat that isn't in Paltalk or Stickam. When can I see that happen?

Yeah? Then explain this to me:

when it doesn't make as much money because you decided to try different, you'll never get another job again and they won't continue your material.

Your dream shouldn't be swayed by "What if in the long run someone else is recognized over me?" If you can see yourself making movies and being happy while doing it, nothing else should be a factor to you. Sure people loving your movies is great, but people loving my comedy would be great too, and there's no guarantee of that. But if you and I can have fun writing screenplays and punchlines, that should be enough.

Let me point it out this way. Entertainment and getting "gigs" is believe it or not, all based on REPUTATION.

Yeah, the world is tilted in the other guy's favor. That's no reason to abandon doing something you love. Your career has Twilight, my career has Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy.

Plus, another reason I debated the field was because, yea I do feel like I can show the world MY world, and my stories, but at the same time, I have always been interested in science/medical and furthering my knowledge of my surroundings, and pursuing a dream that will further my education and also be a great family skill is something I look forward to.

Just gotta find which one is going to make you happier. I can't see myself doing scientific research, but if you can do that every day without crying, then fuck yeah, do it up.

When picking a career field, stop asking yourself "Can I do what the director of Twilight is doing?" and start asking yourself "Is this something I'll be happy doing for a living?"

That's how I changed my objective from Computer Programmer to Stand-Up Comedian. I can't see myself sitting in front of a flourescent screen for 15 hours a day, but I can sure as shit see myself making people laugh on stage. Yeah, barely any Stand-up comedians "Make it" but I'll be happy doing what I do for less than minimum wage.

After reviewing this thread, I've changed my opinion on this. Let me leave you with a quote from someone who I deeply respect:

"It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside. Whether you're white, or black, or a Sasquatch even, as long as you follow your dream, no matter how crazy or against the law it is.
Except for sasquatch. if you're Sasquatch the rules are different."

Posted: 11/22/09 07:35 PM

Forum: General

The most impressive song I can play on guitar is this song I wrote myself. It's not complex, but it sounds good and I think playing something you wrote yourself is way more impressive than reading tabs. No offense to anyone naming famous songs.

I play far more bass though. I say the more impressive songs I play are Speak Free/Battlestar Scralatchtica by Incubus, The Pot by Tool, and the Super Mario Bros. Theme Song. Not the underground one, cause I'm still rusty trying to play that.

This year, I'm taking US History, with a feminist teacher. When we were taking notes on the American Revolution, one of the bullets of Post-Revolution victory was "Women were given more rights"

In all my previous classes about US History, not one teacher mentioned that women were given more rights after the revolution. I wondered why, and then it hit me: She made the notes, she can put what she wants.

Doesn't that say something about schooling? I mean, whether women DID get rights or not doesn't matter, it's that what we learn in school is dependent on what the teacher thinks is important, not the curriculum. Just about every lesson you're given in school is warped to some degree by the teacher's ideals. That's sick to me. If I can get a less biased source of facts on Wikipedia than a classroom, why should I show up to school?

I actually just put my RATM discography on random today while I went through school. I never knew how much I liked Wake Up before today.

Rage has some excellent song composure. It's more than just Verse, Chorus, Solo, Outro, which a lot of people suck at doing well. And the bass in these songs tear my head off, being a bassist myself.

Way back in 6th grade, I took chorous cause I used to like singing. It was around the end of the year, a lot of people were signing up to do some competition where you sing individually in front of a panel of judges. Idk what the reward for winning was, but plenty of chicks signed up for it, and our class had nothing to do, so the people doing this competition were practicing in front of the class, so they can be critiqued by their classmates.

So, this one girl went up and sang her 2 minute song, it was bad. I didn't bother raising my hand, but everyone else did. Every person systematically shot down every aspect of this girl's performance.
"I thought the pitch could've been better, but everything else was good"
"yeah, and the timing for your notes were off, but besides that and the pitch, Good!"
"yeah, and your diction was bad. But besides the diction, notes, and pitch, it was fine!"

This shit went on and on, and I saw her shrinking more and more into her chair in front of 70-some odd students ruining her self esteem. So I see a moment to strike with my witty banter. I raise my hand and say "I'm pretty sure just now was the worst 2 minutes of her life" referring to how everyone was shitting all over her singing.

Suddenly, everyone in the class turned to where I was in the risers and shouted many rude things I don't remember vividly at me. Things like "Wow, WTF Chris!" and "That was MEAN!" I assume.
They all thought I was saying "Her singing was the worst 2 minutes of her life

I wanted to fix it, but everyone was much louder than me, so I just sat there and facepalmed over and over and over.

Discuss it with a lawyer. If it's really something to build a case off of, then I'd say be reimbursed of your car's value, strictly. Don't gotta be a dick and take more than what you need.

I'm no law major, but suing a guy because his dogs were on a foggy highway sounds like a futile lawsuit. But you really gotta talk to an attorney who knows their shit.

I really wouldn't want to sleep with anyone younger than me, for the purpose of them being inexperienced and awkward in bed.

In the event of people younger than me being whores, lowest I'll go is 15. You only have to watch a couple hours of Daytime Talk Shows to see, there's plenty of girls 15+ ready to start fucking.

Keep in mind, I'm 16. Not that creepy to be with someone 15 yet.

Highest I'll go, Fuck, the sky's the limit. You only live once. Age isn't even the issue as much as vanity is. If the milf is 55, I guess I'm fucking someone who's 55. if she's 30 and broken down, I'd probably pass it up. Age isn't much the decider with older spouses, as much as condition. For me, at least.
