PS.lordparkour...don't picture spam.
Well... Yeah it is about 6 frames. But I mean it looks so good compared to always using tweens and sprites. Also, I coloured it: Link
This was all done in under 30 minutes. Any suggestions for it?
Also you have to note that I suck at drawing on paper and with the mouse. So I got a friend of mine to draw it for me, and I traced it with the pen tool. He only did the first frame and I drew the rest of the legs with the pen tool...

I originally had it like that, but when i was trying to animate the two arms together I moved the two layers on top of each other for easier access. I'll fix it as I'm colouring.
And swift 3d v.5 rocks even harder
Stopped using sprites. This is my very first FBF animation. Any comments suggestions? Is it good or bad or what?

But that is seriously awesome. I mean the background, that looks possible. But the water...how? I mean... Did you just draw a square, do some waves then put some fancy colouring?
Also, what if you wanted to animate something like that? would you have to redraw the scene again a couple o times?

I mean my part just seems so simple that it won't take any time at all...
Well I've got money to buy a tablet, but I don't think I will since I suck at drawing on paper anyway...
But you didn't answer this, how long did it take you two to draw these?
I'm currently trying to find a way to do the part in more than 2 hours.... Until then, here's a cool tank if you'd like to use anywhere between the preloader and the menu, it's only 200 kb.

Okay what the hell. Can EVERYONE draw these days expect me????
You people make here make drawing look like a breeze.
I mean it's like there's a thread with," I was bored and drunk so I did this in three minutes..." and you see a picture that's totally mind blowing....
So how long did it take you to do that pic? And was that all in flash? With a mouse? What tool?
I've a few flashes which got me loads of cash. Not from sponsors, I've got "doctor connections"
And a lot of doctors need flash for their presentation, and when they hear a little kid could do it for them they instantly buy from me. One was for Dr. Jose Boix Ochoa. Got 300 euros for it. And a few more for Egyptian doctors which got me about... 100$
I still find it quite odd that there is no edit button...
Anyway, thanks for the help.
Two things with newgrounds:
1.Why the hell is there no edit button here??? I have never seen a forum without an edit button. This leads to double posting (which I assume is against the rules) as well as well, what if someone is making a collab and wants to keep all the info in the first post? There really should be an edit button, for mis-spellings and all.
2.I've seen a few flash submissions that are over the 10 mb size limit, what's up with that? Is it because they're exceptionally great that they have been allowed to post larger than the size limit? If one wishes to do such a thing, his flash must also be exceptionally well right?

Thanks, but about my flash. I'm a bit stuck here. I mean just doing the sun, then it expanding, then it exploding, then another one forming doesn't seem like much.... Any suggestions?

That isn't good.
Was that about my menu or his flash?
If not about my menu, so have u seen it?
At 12/16/08 07:05 PM, Diphallia wrote: I equal that to a broken link.
Well it works fine here, and for every one who saw and commented on it....
It's pretty awesome though, 3d and all...
Anyway, I uploaded again, here
Also, I know realize why it would take so long to make your flashes, cuz most of them got people in them or need drawing. But for me, I'm just gonna import the 3d sun and destroy it. That's all, should be good and not take more than a few hours.
I'll do it for 90% less money than anyone else. Or scratch that, I'll do it for free!
P.S. I haven't uploaded any games yet, but that one is quite simple.
It works but there's just no preloader. So wait.
Here's the link again.

I really hope that they will look nothing like your submissions.
I really hope so too.
But at least the awesome 3d menu was great right? That was done in.... 30 minutes. Skip a page or two back if you haven't seen it.
And I'll just try to put some actual work and, see how that works out....
In case this topic has been done before, don't flame me...
And in case it hasn't been done before, Well yeah, bush got hit, or almost hit, with a pair of shoes.
..Also in case of flying monkeys, don't his .45 bullets on them, you have been warned...
What are your thought and comments?

You just got to make some time...
I've never taken that long to make a 10-30 second animation before. I mean by my calculations it would take about.... If I work on making it really good, just 5 hours or something...
I mean what takes so long in those animations anyway?
For me I'm just going to make the sun appear for a few seconds, then it starts to get redder (as in hotter) and starts to get bigger. Then after it's a red giant it's outer layers are gonna explode off, then we see the little white drawf. Then another sun fades in, in the place of the other one, then we see the solar system, but with different looking planets.
That wouldn't take more than a few hours, why months?
Also, this is the cycle of the stars:
Sun Cycle
Did you try resizing the Vcam itself?

Me too
But the only new great tool is the boon tool. Just draw any figure and animate like there's no tomorrow...
At 12/13/08 02:05 PM, Moltimert wrote: But you cant do that to movieclips and bitmaps (right?)
anyway the 3D tool actually rotates the objects in 3D space
the free transform only distorts the image. You know
However, since everything in flash is 2d, when you move them with in 3d space, they become distorted, and as such, the free transform tool is just as useful.
I mean, everything is paper once you try to flip it. I don't see the point here.
At 12/13/08 12:59 PM, Moltimert wrote: Basically the tool allows you to rotate flat objects in x, y and x axis
Flash still isn't a 3D program with proper 3d figures in 3d enviroment
but it's still a neat tool
But I still don't get what's so cool about it. I mean with the free transform tool you could get the exact same effect.
That's very possible with the new bone tool in flash cs4.... Theoretically, haven't tested it though, but it should work fine.
At 12/11/08 12:42 PM, YoungAndWise wrote: 6 months?
That's a little exaggerated, matey.
The madness episodes take 6 months each, according to an interview with krinkels in the NG mag or something...
Most artists enjoy the process, and have a sense of satisfaction when the work is done and people have enjoyed it. I personally love seeing my ideas coming true with animation/music and getting feedback from people.
But if you're up for the ''stronger effect'' thing, good luck.
I do love making flashes as well. But I also love playing video games as well as reading solving maths... So which should I choose to do? First do the math, then work on the flash then play some video games. Instead of you just having fun doing it and entertaining a few people in the process, why don't you have some good, educational fun?
Again, you're making it sound like animating/composing is nothing but a pain in the ass.
The garbage cleaning guy loves his job, but it provides small use when compared to the other jobs. Somebody out there, and there are enough of people, who do good comedic flashes, so how about we do something else?
What if you love entertaining people? Did you know the entertainment industry can get yourself quite some $ and fame? I'm not trying to say that's all you should look after, not at all... what I mean is that ''entertaining people'' is a perfectly good career that combines having fun with that you're doing and earning big time (if you're good at it).
Ya sure entertaining people is good job, if what your looking for in life is to have fun, have enough money and just live a comfortable life. But there are others whose work actually makes a difference.
Also, singers don't only entertain people. An artist can impact greatly on society/people even when their aim is to entertain. Besides, your example is bad: you're comparing comedy with music. Those are two different kinds of entertainment, although both are completely fine.
Not all singers do that, to my knowledge at least, most just sing about useless, meaningless stuff...
Damn, who said anything about 6 months? Only if you're extremely bad at flash, making a really big/awesome animation, or just can spend 1 minute on it a day.
Well I want to do a super luigi game, and not just stupid sprites, but a really good game, with incredible graphics, very long gameplay and a great story. By my calculations it should take about a year to do. (3d animations involved too) so in a project that big, I won't just be doing it for entertainment, I would include morals to the story, philosophy, history and all that.
A good example of educational games is metal gear solid, mgs3 to be exact. You may be asking," How the hell is this educational?" Well, it takes place in 1964, and from that game I learned a lot about that year, as well it pushed me to wanting to learn more about the cold war, which I had no idea such a war had taken place. You also learn a lot about the philosophy of what a soldier is, of what he should do, you learn a lot about loyalty, and much more.
So in short, doing entertaining flashes is great and all, and even doing entertaining games gives you knowledge and experience of the programming language your working with, so you can learn a lot from doing flashes, like hard work and all that. So yeah, you can do entertainment flashes and be of use, only a little though, or you can express your thoughts through your flash.
By the way, is there a deadline for this? Or a suggested date for submitting?
At 12/10/08 10:04 AM, YoungAndWise wrote: I'm not trying to argue, it just bothered me that you ditched his script because it involved muffins and toasts. He could try to make a ''serious short'' like the composer and fail miserably, as well as he could make one about muffins and toasts and cook something good (lol pun).
My point is, are you ready to spend 6 months, working so hard and so much on something that provides 3 minutes of entertainment for people? I admit that those comedic flashes are funny and entertaining, someone out there has to work hard to do them, but it's not gonna be me. Instead I try to work on something that has a strong effect after those three minutes are up.
It's a like the garbage cleaning guy, somebody has to do it, but I prefer not to....
Or how about a singer? Someone providing entertainment for people, that's all he did in life, provide entertainment for people.....
I mean if your going to do an entertainment flash, 6 months is a little too much...
Well like I said before:
"If it's something easy, I might be able to do it 3D and it won't be more than 700kb. If not, I could try doing it normally. I mean I'm an okay 2d flash animator"
Emphasize on the "okay 2d flash animator"
Anyway I'll try to do it, Also I could try 3Ding it if it won't be too big....
But you'd better have a backup plan...
I'll start working on it...
Instead of wasting your time writing scripts about muffins and toast, why don't you do something useful for once eh? There are a few good newgrounds' movies out there, like "The composer" , those serious shorts, that stuff....
Why don't you make something that displays a message. Flash is like poetry, it's a clever way artists' use to convey their thoughts and emotions...
Stupid question.....What's the depth? There only is X and Y in flash, left and right.....right?
