But enough about us... What are YOUR goals for 2008?

I hope to finish at least one of those projects that are just "floating"" in the My Documents folder.
And get a submission a score of 3.0 AT THE VERY LEAST!

To sum it all up, make something awesome, like Portal: The Flash Version, which I noticed is no longer on the front page!

people may die

Hohoho... good joke there chap! Wait... you are joking, aren't you?

Oh and one other thing I'd like to do is to drastically improve my AS skills, and learn the basics of a new programming/web development language. I have PHP in mind.

Keep crackin' Tom!

look, this isn't what the flash forum is for. it clearly says "ask questions [about flash] and discuss flash techniques with your peers". not "come here and annoy everybody by asking about this weird-sounding flash of mine". tata.

If you need any more help (I'm assuming you don't know much PHP) simply post back here and I'm sure we can talk you through it.

i know variables in php and that's about it! i'm sure that there's a tutorial that i can dig up somewhere....

though the problem is i need a php server, because localhost doesn't support php etc. sighs.

PHP main taught me the basics in about 15 minutes, which I find pretty good!

Do you want comments on just one thing, or on alot of different things? If you just want one comment box, like a shoutbox or guestbook, do a web search for a free shoutbox. I've seen (and used) alot that actually run as Javascript, and all the info is stored on their server...all you have is a little text link ad to get it, if I remember right.

thanks woogienoogie! i'll try that!

you could search for a tutorial, for example, if it is going to be a platform game tutorial, google "platform game tutorial", and then it is pretty simple to work out.

but really, what you are saying, is that we're going to make you a game that you take most of the credit for, and you only put two bitmaps into a movieclip? and we spent hours trying to organise some code for a noob who doesn't even have a portfolio of work to show us?

we need to see what you're like.

i think that wordpress comes with pre-built templates, or you can find them online, so don't be worried about layout design!

it's a good piece of software, lots of functionality, lots of features!

pretty much every good blog uses it!

so i'd say that you should!

but then i guess that this may pose problems, largely abuse of space and malicious php/mysqql.

so some'd need to moderate it or something.

In AS2 there is a StopAllSounds(); command, but I'm not sure if that works in AS3.

Or you could try cltryflash.media.SoundMixer.stopAll() , the fancy way.

What I do is make an external SWF with the music in that, and to stop sound use an unloadMovieNum(??) function.

Cheers,

i mean someone who is completely unaware of the way the world around you. wholly. ill refer you to that thread about xhtml validation, wherein im still waiting for you to apologize for your offensive comments. ill leave it to you to make that happen.

sorry mate, i did not realise that my comment could have managed to be offensive.

so as not to turn a perfectly good thread into a flame war, i'm calling it quits.

i think that you spelt wholly wrong. i think you meant "holy".
i think that your comments were a bit more offensive than what i posted in the xhtml validation thread...

i'm now totally confused.

i don't see how authorblues found this offensive, but whatever. sorry.

in other words:
you go the the w3c website and it will debug your xhtml and then you have the right to put an icon on your website saying that it has been validated to the w3c corps standards.

paint.net is VERY good indeed. it is my primary image editing tool. but yes, there is that transparency problem. sigh.

no, i meant it in the sense that it worked.
blah's code was ADDING ON to WoogieNoogie's code.
what did you mean by "someone like you".
oh well... sob sob!
i'm fairly new to php, so i take it that if something works, so be it!
