I got a phonecall a few minutes ago from his parents. I am still recovering from the shock, but it seems our good friend Mick has died from alcohol poisoning. Micks parents left me to tell you all what happened, they said it was for the best.

Rest in peace, Mick.

Quick query. It'[s my birthday, so you guys owe me some help :)

Whenever I plug a USB device into my PC, the PC completely freezes, and even the mouse stops moving. (worth noting that the mouse is USB though and somehow works.

When I reset my computer it goes to a blank loop screen with the options "start windows normally", "Last known good configuration" etc. Usually the PC only starts when I choose the latter.

Examples of the devices I've tried are:

iPod, mobile phone, camera etc.

I plan to buy a USB turntable, and I would like my iTunes library to be set up on this PC so like, help me out NG, I'm stuck.

"Catholic with pleasant. Protestant with unpleasant: 1.001 seconds
Protestant with pleasant. Catholic with unpleasant: 1.052 seconds

By responding more quickly to associating Catholic with pleasant this has indicated you have a preference towards Catholics"

Personally I don't think this test is accurate, because it just confuses you, and I don't know about anybody else, but I tended to end up guessing when all the categories became mixed. Still, I must admit I do assosciate protestants more with biggotry and whatnot.

Ross says:
Not NOT saying something that is true
Mick says:
You know my wife has cheated on me.
Mick says:
You don't tell me
Mick says:
I find out on my own
Mick says:
"How could you lie to me, Ross?! You didn't say anything! I feel so betrayed!"
Ross says:
It's lack of honesty
Mick says:
I would define lack of honesty as lying
Mick says:
"saying something that isn't true"
Mick says:

Mick says:
So why is that any different?

I had a strange dream when i was drifiting in and out of sleep this morning. I don't know if you could call it "lucid" or not, because I was unable to control anything. But basically I felt as if I was lying sick in bed, and I could hear people talking, really vividly, in the background. It reminded me of the hatch in the show "Lost", that's the background I imagined. I heard an English woman most prominently. They were discussing what to do with me and whatnot. And then she came up to me and started talking to me. But the vivid way that I could really hear them was the coolest thing. That's the second one I've ever had.

The first one I had was around a year ago, it was the same kind of vividness. (and I realise my dreams are taking a desert island theme) I was on a kind of raft, and I could feel the wind blowing against my neck really violently. It was so cold. Yet at the same time I half-realised that i was just lying in bed but didn't want to wake up because it was such a strange feeling. The wind was so real. I could also hear the waves crashing. I was really amazing, what I'd imagine an LSD trip to be like.

Can anyone provide some insight as to what kind of dreams I had? They just seemed to real and toyed with my sense. Could you still call that "lucid"?

I've got The Wall, Dark Side Of The Moon, and Wish You Were Here. I think they're the most acclaimed ones.

Porcupine Tree - "In Absentia" and "Deadwing"

Fuckin' A. Porcupine Tree are awesome. If you haven't already, go see them. I pretty much have all their albums, but I'll have to wait for the re-releases of "Recordings", "Lightbulb Sun" and "Moonloop".

The Mars Volta - "Amputechture" (though their other two studio albums are still "out there")

Amputechture is one of my favourite albums, definetely their best.

Radiohead - "Hail to the Thief"

It's grown on me a lot, actually. I especially like "Punch Up At A Wedding","2+2=5" and "Backdrifts"

And I also say "The White Album" by The Beatles.

I actually haven't heard this, though I'm not massive on The Beatles. But I'll check it out.

Well, you pretty much have awesome taste in music.

Topic: What's the most "out there" album?

For the purposes of curiosity, I was wondering - perhaps for those of you who have stuck with musicians who shock their fans with really unexpected albums, or go with really strange sounding music - what is the most "out there" album you have heard?

Now, "out there" could refer to the unique way it sounds that really stands out, or if it is disturbing and incredibly strange. Does is stick with you because of how odd it is? Does it literally rape your ears that you can't stand listening to it? Perhaps the album has a concept which was interesting and took you on a journey.

I'll give you a couple of examples of what stands out for me, and why:

Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante: This album is totally schizophrenic. It jumps from one genre to the next in a matter of seconds. To give you an idea of how much, it can jump from 50's rock 'n 'roll to jazz fusion to hardcore gore metal. Also, the album is disturbing as hell. Knives scrape together, threatening messages are whispered in Italian, and you really don't know what is going to pounce on you next. At any moment, a wild array of noise can violate your eardrums. Easy listening, this is not.

Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory: This is an album which stuck with me because of the way it is told. It is played out like a kind of rock opera, complete with 2 acts and scenes within them. It plays out as a story where a man named Nicholas has visions of a strange girl who he could swear he has seen someplace or sometime before. The album follows his research and journey to discover that she was part of a fatal tragedy in 1928. He digs deeper to discover her back story and the murder. And the ending... Well, it's interesting and pretty cool. I had to read into it to fully gain an understanding of it though. Of course, being Dream Theater, it's overblown and completely insane, but the album's story and concept make it "out there" in my book.

So, now that you've got an idea of what I mean, tell me of some albums that you think are "out there". I'll check them out sometime.

GO LOL
