Back to Politicians DO think we're stupid

Edited at 2014-11-19 02:52:21

It's amazing how politics works, or at least the mindset of politicians.

Most of us know about Jonathan Gruber's video, where he basically calls American voters stupid and all that good stuff, not to mention some rather incriminating things about how the Affordable Care Act got passed.

And of course, the Democrats shit themselves and try to disavow any knowledge of Gruber, despite there being plenty of footage of them praising and quoting him in the past.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say he wrote the bill himself, he was contracted to help work on the bill. Given that he was the only person contracted to do analysis, it's logical to say that his part was no minor role. People in minor roles don't submit documents to the CBO. I also find it amusing how many websites named Gruber as an architect of the bill. Seriously.

Anyway, enough about that. The thing I find most amusing is now the Democrats are trying to say they either do not know who he is, or try to frame him as some small fry in the crafting of the bill.

I'm beginning to think that Gruber's thoughts on American Voters being stupid is a common thread amongst politicians. Then again, seeing how some people are performing amazing feats of acrobatic logic to downplay Gruber's statements, saying, "Well, uhh, this is what he REALLY meant!" and that people are buying it, I'm thinking Gruber may not be that far off the mark.

The thing that bothers me is that politicians on both sides tell such blatant bald faced lies, thinking the people are too stupid to figure it out. The thing that bothers me even more is how many people prove them right by blindly believing anything their preferred party says.
