I have to agree with the OP that I'm also disgusted by what they did. Not only is it disrespectful to perform these acts in front of religion (and this goes to any organization/party/business/etc.), but it doesn't even remotely solve anything. Maybe they weren't looking to solve something externally; they just wanted to be bullies, and if that's the case, that makes it worse.
Of course there will be some people that will disagree with me, and more than likely that they support these kinds of protests, but flip it the other way around (have the Catholic Church do something comparable to what these women did), they're completely against them and feel that the protests needs to be banned. One thing I absolutely cannot stand are double standards, and this certainly applies to some people I know who are not religious in any way. Honestly, I don't think many people brings this up (save a few of course), but that's another topic for another day...
HOWEVER, unlike the OP, I do NOT want to see these demonstrators punished. I especially do NOT want to see them get beaten or killed by Islamic Extremist, or by anyone for expressing themselves and/or their opinion. Everyone, no matter how radical they are, have every right to express their opinion against something as long as they are not infringing the rights of others (violence being the key thing). I'm willing to go as far as to say the Westboro Baptist Church shouldn't be physically harmed, because they have that right to their radical opinion (as should anyone). OP, you're scum.
