Back to Marriage solution should be obvious

I completely agree with your premise, which is reducing government involvement in marital affairs.

There are a couple of married regulars here. Tell me, do you feel your marriage is more valid because the government says it is? I don't really think so.

It's like having a bureaucrat approve a Facebook relationship status update before it becomes official if you ask me.

There are a couple of married regulars here in the politics forum. Tell me, do you feel your marriage is more valid just because the government says it is? I'm a bachelor myself, but I fail to see (n my Christian view) a union of two souls to form one, eternally bound unit, as a cause for concern for a government employee.

It's like having a bureaucrat approve a Facebook relationship status update before it becomes official if you ask me. The problem is, marriage has been under the thumb of government so long that it is like the presence of air to most folks, they really don't have a clue that it isn't necessary for a paper pusher to decide what's right for your life.

Edit: Added some meat to the last two paragraphs. It's my personal policy going forward to say what I edit when I do so, because editing without saying why just seems underhanded IMO
