Back to The Snappening

So, apparently over 100,000 images have been hacked from Snapchat via third party apps like Snapsave. Snapchat has denied that their own servers were hacked and placed the blame on third party applications that compromised its security. However, since we don't actually know what those applications were yet and the images did originate from the Snapchat website it has been dubbed, the Snappening. The database of images originated from some users of 4Chan. Based on the fact that the image hoard is much greater and the fact that half of Snapchat's users are between the ages of 13 and 17 this has much greater and more serious implications then the last major nude leakoriginating from 4Chan. 4Chan administrators have been working hard to get the photos off the sites message boards as quickly as possible, but by now the genie is very much out of the bottle.

So, do you think that this event will have wider implications for the security of the internet as a whole? Do you think 4chan is likely to be sued for distribution, even if inadvertent, of child porn? Do you think the hackers will be caught? Will this event hurt the long term prospects of Snapchat as a website? What all other effects could this event have, small or large?
