These will act as the front speakers. I'll get something smaller for the surround sound.
Based on what you have said, to me it seems you'd want a good set of monitor speakers (speakers designed for production purposes, rather than general use like Logitech speakers). As you want heavy bass, you'd need a subwoofer as well. Alternatively, you can just buy monitors that have heavier bass, but they'll never come close to the bass quality of a subwoofer.
To get all this working, you will need a soundcard (external which plugs into your computer via USB or internal- that's inside your computer) to connect these three speakers (which all have their separate power cables btw) to you computer. The reason being that they do not use standard 3.5mm audio plugs like your standard headphone jack in your computer and iPhone.
Unless you're happy to splurge lots of money at once, I'd recommend not buying a subwoofer initially. You can still hear great sound and achieve results with a set of satellite monitor speakers without a subwoofer... not the other way around though. And a good set of monitors without a subwoofer will still have better bass than your general computer speakers you can get at JB Hi-Fi.
"Best" is totally subjective, of course... though, to get the renowned "best" of all of these products would set you back thousands (not worth it unless you're a pro already).
To finish up, I have told you what you need, and I recommend you research these types of products and see what others have to say about specific products, in order to determine what you want to buy. You could also go into a music store and test out their speakers.
To recap, what you'll need:
1. Soundcard (otherwise, how will you connect the monitor speakers to your computer)?
2. Stereo monitor speakers.
3. Subwoofer (optional- for best bass)
Make sure everything you buy is compatible and will do the job in the future! You don't want to buy a soundcard with only two outputs... that means you'll need to buy a new soundcard should you want to connect a subwoofer!
