Nice

Listening to this almost makes me want to sit down and code an rpg simply to include this as the ending battle track. Amazingly stirring work.

sorohanro responds:

Well, you can make a WW2 shooter ;) that would fit also there.
Thanx for review.

I'm glad I checked this out

Because I'm gonna drop one hell of a review on ya!

Imma start with the beginning, and that saxophone. The saxophone probably shouldn't have had so much vibrato (is it called that on a sax?) applied to it, as it would have led to the power of the song to just have it play legato. Honestly though, it doesn't feel like the saxophone belongs on that particular part. I think a trombone or a french horn would have been better suited for that particular section.

Secondly, I wouldn't say that this is a fight scene, rather a buildup to a truly epic fightscene, that's what it feels like to me personally. It just lacks the overall energy for a full-fledged fight.

I can't knock the drums. They are excellent in more ways than I can count.

This is just an idea, but you might wanna experiment with violin ?crescendos? (again, not sure if that's the right term) in that last part. That feels like it would really fit in that part, honestly.

The melodies and the chords were solid. I particularly liked that aspect of the song.

In the end, when the brassy sounding thing kept playing that low D, it sounded kind of stale. You might want to experiment with that instrument to add a little more definition to it, like attaching a slight filter with an LFO or something.

Overall, this song can use some work. Some instruments should probably be changed or altered, and it feels like new instruments would help to make these excellent melodies and drumbeats shine like never before. I hate being the only asshole here giving a harsh review, but hey, we are the Audio Portal. We show each other no mercy, right?

so, my final score is 7.4/10. This song has a fuckload of potential to be something amazing, though. I may download this and recompose it myself in the future, I like this song that much. Either that, or write a song based on this one.

sorohanro responds:

Thanx for review, quite a long one :)
I tried to describe the feelings of tension before the battle or a battle in a more "theatrical" way than usual "epic" movie imagery.
I don't know what you mean by saxophone, didn't use any... might be the wrong eq-ing of some other instrument...

I'll probably remake it with some more realistic instrument samples, heck, I might record real trumpets myself there :)

If you want to make your own version of it, feel free to.
Cheers.

Sweet

This has got to be one of the best songs and the tile fits it very well. I would like to know how you made it and what program.

sorohanro responds:

Thank you very much.
The track was made originally for a Hamlet directed by Liviu Pancu in 2004. Is mostly made in Reason with the Orchestral refill.

RAISE YOUR SWORD

I really, really like your this piece but I would help you out by telling you that "Rise Your Sword" doesn't make any grammatical sense. You might want to change it to "Raise Your Sword." It is just a small tip. I am not being a hater I just wanted to point that out. Otherwise, the song is great. It would work really well in a slow battle. It also loops VERY well!!!! =P

sorohanro responds:

Thanx for review and tip.
I was trying to translate the title from Romanian (my mother tongue) and that was the closest thing.
Rise - Etymology:
Middle English, from Old English risan; akin to Old High German risan to rise
Date: before 12th century
Rise : to move upward : ascend b: to increase in height, size, volume, or pitch

Well, I was about to change it to Rice (because of th economical crisis)...

very nice

i liked it a lot :)
i find it strange that people would put this in a WWII scene ...
when i listen to this i see medieval battle formations and epic armies marching towards the enemy

sorohanro responds:

All I had i mind were swords and knights, castles and stuff ...
Thanx for review.
