"Holy freakin' awesome."

by: Ludzix
date: June 4, 2007

Although vocals sounded a bit synthetic, the whole thing is pretty stunning (solo violin squashed me). Keep the good fight =D

Author's Response:

Heh, yeah the vocals sounded quite synth. And I did my best to try and deter that. You should have heard it before the mad effects I piled on top of it XD.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you enjoyed it, and please forgive me for the mad delayed response :(

This is a true work of art. I love it alot.

Author's Response:

Thank you Alarity. I apologize for the very late review, I simply did not catch on the number change until now X(. I wouldn't have caught on if I didn't check through every song like I do once a month.

Wanted to apologize, in any case, thank you for the review! I'm glad you liked it.

I liked the music! Nice bell playing, and did you use a tuba for this? It seemed like it was.

Author's Response:

OH MY GOD, I forgot all these review?! My sincerest apologies ZeroMan. I feel rather foolish for forgetting the review, I don't even know if you will read this.

But yes, there is a tuba and some low trombones thrown in there!

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it ^^.

It appears that I have accidentally posted my review for this in your 'Brotherhood' piece. My regrets.

As for 'Brotherhood' itself, I like the ambient crickets. However, it makes me think more of telling stories of valor. Its relaxed tone connotes quiet reflection more than it does grand, exited acting. It's still good, though. :)

Author's Response:

I'm glad I read both reviews before I responded, because I felt a little strange sitting there thinking "do the cello's really sound like brass?! Have i raped them so hard in this fashion O_O!?"

But it makes much more sense now.

You're right I could have beefed up the low end, the trouble with this one was the percussion. They literally dominated my low end and because I don't use these kind of drums often I was faced with many situations I wasn't prepared to handle. I'm glad you were honest enough to point these errors out, because I was wondering if I should spend more time in the future on mastering, or learn that on the side while creating.

I will definitely have to work on equalizing and the such.

As for the Brotherhood piece, I fully agree, there is a great nostalgic value to the piece, the first image that triggered it however was that of brotherhood, and so to give credit to the starting block I named it as such.

Thank you for both reviews, greatly appreciated. I'm glad you liked them.

"Good"

date: February 25, 2007

I can imagine a dark day with a man in a necromancer outfit standing on top of a mountain watching his minions approaching a city.

You did a good job at making it into a RPG soundtrack. The melody was nice and it sounded like it was very urgent for a rescue or an invasion scenario.

Good as always.

Author's Response:

Thanks Heinrich. The piece itself wasn't used in the game, a much more talented artist came around and blew me out of the water ;), but this one was a very difficult one for me to produce, as it uses some very old styles I used back in the day and some new jazzy styles which weren't very compatible.

The result was still pretty good, and having learned a lot from it, was good enough for me.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it.

"Nice."

date: February 13, 2007

Stunning, Maestro, to say the least. and what great to accompany a great piece but with what I do best at times, storytelling!
before i whisk my quill I would like to add, the story I made to accompany your piece "these games we play" has actually been created into a full story I have added to the Cage of Dreams. Bravo on the piece.
anyway, this battle reaches me in an equally epic, but more outlandish way.
The rivals meet each other at the front, two teams, once mercenaries who had scuffled long ago, are meeting at the end to settle the score. the Red mercenary leader draws his blade, followed by his comrade's staff, bow, and axe, ready to face their rivals. the Blue mercenary raises her mace followed by her comrade's polearm, spear, and warhammer. the eight mighty warriors charge each other, at times fighting alone and at times teamed with their fellow fighters, all in a great attempt to best the other. in midst their fighting they begin to see themselves and each other, what their lives had been before, and are now, due to the rivalry. but a bitter war had sent these eight against each other only to find they had been fighting for those whose views conflicted theirs. upon the defeat of the Blue leader, the other three blue arms stood with a propsition for the reds, followed by their leader.
in time, the eight no longer harbored such bitterness, and the rivalry ends, bringing the warriors together and strengthening their ties to each other.

Author's Response:

It is strange, but true to consider how sometimes aggression and a sense of bitterness to another can be swayed if not dismantled entirely by a good fight. In many online games i've seen two rivaling people actually get friendly and grow attached to another as they fight and see themselves in the other.

Why I wonder from time to time, does feeling defeat or victory by somebody who you once held contempt for sway these emotions? Only in the case where the other is filled with too much hate and rage to ever change their mindset does a defeat ring like a nightmare.

Perhaps the tension gets too high, and the only way to dismantle it is by becoming friends, or maybe as a instinct they feel working together would gain them much more then fighting alone...

in any case the story rings true to people I see often, and so it is one I could relate with. Well written.

This would have been PERFECT for Men In Black soundtrack! I mean, it would have easily been chosen because the way you use hymns are the bells.

I really like this.

Cheers. :)

Author's Response:

Thanks Pulstate, I tried more conventional RPG kind of voice in the track, and let me tell you, never having tried it before, that was hard. Took a long while, but it was all worth it!

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it ^^.

Nice loop. I really liked the melody, that was hot. Loops good too. Should be a little longer maybe? Anyways good stuff!

Author's Response:

Maybe, but it was exhausting doing just this much! It used some new styles for me, so it was difficult to stay on track.

In any case, thank you for the review ^^.
