"Dark Skies"

date: July 20, 2007

Congratulations on your win in the AG contest! This is one of my favorite songs that I used, and I noticed some other people also used it in their games. Very deserving.

Author's Response:

Thank you Phendrana! I did not expect to win anything to be honest, so it came as a pleasant surprise! I am glad you found the piece useful, I hope it was able to entertain you. Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked the piece!

Reason?
I am a huge huge sucker for epic bells.

THERE MUST BE MOAR BELLS

July 19, 2007

Author's Response:

if I put more bells, then it would be an awesome song of bells! And then the other instruments would strike. I can't do with that >:(

Thank you for the review tasers, i'm glad you liked it!

"Nice..."

date: June 22, 2007

Very intense... nice choir you have there... I see you've included some trumpets and stuff, or something like that... The bells, the background sound that I don't know which instrument you used, everything... it's INTENSE and EXCELLENT... Such invigoration and seriousness I felt at this time... either that or I'm just plain sleepy... man, I gotta get some sleep...

July 19, 2007

Author's Response:

Heh, thank you for the review amador. I really like the choir myself, some of my personal favorites in this song here! Sorry for the super late response amador, it's hard to see new reviews, with the redesign as it stands, it's down right impossible.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Hi MaestroRage great work as usual in fact were planning to use it at our Game Design camp for a nonprofit game were making as a 2 week project were doing. Its gonna be the final boss music for our game That ok with you? Of course you'll be in the credits for the soundtrack contributors.

Author's Response:

Hey Magus. Of course i'm down with that :). I make these tunes so that people may use or draw inspiration from them as they please. I would love to see the project once it is complete, I wish you the best of luck, and happy programming at camp :D!

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Although vocals sounded a bit synthetic, the whole thing is pretty stunning (solo violin squashed me). Keep the good fight =D

Author's Response:

Heh, yeah the vocals sounded quite synth. And I did my best to try and deter that. You should have heard it before the mad effects I piled on top of it XD.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you enjoyed it, and please forgive me for the mad delayed response :(

Author's Response:

Thank you Alarity. I apologize for the very late review, I simply did not catch on the number change until now X(. I wouldn't have caught on if I didn't check through every song like I do once a month.

Wanted to apologize, in any case, thank you for the review! I'm glad you liked it.

I liked the music! Nice bell playing, and did you use a tuba for this? It seemed like it was.

Author's Response:

OH MY GOD, I forgot all these review?! My sincerest apologies ZeroMan. I feel rather foolish for forgetting the review, I don't even know if you will read this.

But yes, there is a tuba and some low trombones thrown in there!

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it ^^.

It appears that I have accidentally posted my review for this in your 'Brotherhood' piece. My regrets.

As for 'Brotherhood' itself, I like the ambient crickets. However, it makes me think more of telling stories of valor. Its relaxed tone connotes quiet reflection more than it does grand, exited acting. It's still good, though. :)

Author's Response:

I'm glad I read both reviews before I responded, because I felt a little strange sitting there thinking "do the cello's really sound like brass?! Have i raped them so hard in this fashion O_O!?"

But it makes much more sense now.

You're right I could have beefed up the low end, the trouble with this one was the percussion. They literally dominated my low end and because I don't use these kind of drums often I was faced with many situations I wasn't prepared to handle. I'm glad you were honest enough to point these errors out, because I was wondering if I should spend more time in the future on mastering, or learn that on the side while creating.

I will definitely have to work on equalizing and the such.

As for the Brotherhood piece, I fully agree, there is a great nostalgic value to the piece, the first image that triggered it however was that of brotherhood, and so to give credit to the starting block I named it as such.

Thank you for both reviews, greatly appreciated. I'm glad you liked them.
