"Excellent"

date: October 18, 2008

My God, I loved this song. I haven't listened to all (or many for that matter) of your songs, but for all the ones I've listened to, I've really come to love them. You have an amazing style. You know how to lure a listener in and reward them with what they want to hear, beautiful music. I can honestly say I didn't find anything wrong with this piece. Even though it did sound like a buildup to something explosive, the song by no means disappointed me. I loved every second of it, and it's just another of your songs I'll be downloading and putting on to my Ipod :) Can you tell me which of your songs is your 100th submission? I'd really like to give that a listen and review :)

Keep making music, there's not a reason in the world for you to stop doing what you do best.

not really a dance piece, feels more like I'm sinking down into the deepest depths of the ocean, through the layers of water and consciousness until eventually, it stops...

Classical dance, perhaps, contemporary dance? Nooooooooooo.....

"Hmm..."

date: July 14, 2008

Though it is definitely a solid piece, it feels a little empty and boring. It feels like the song would jump to a much fuller sound eventually, but left me in disappointment.

However, it is very well put together and I enjoyed it overall. Good job!

Author's Response:

Yeah, I agree with you, I'm not all that good with building up a piece into an epic orchestra, I'd have to kidnap MaestroRage before I could do that. ;D
Thanks for the review.

This is a nice song, its really calm and quiet, but it creates a huge atmosphere with its dark ambience. Its very classical and has a very old feel to it, like a dark song in a castle that noone has lived it, where its always grey outside.
Its best feature is its atmosphere. Youve created a masterpiece.

Author's Response:

Thanks. Your description kind of displayed what I had in mind, but it also reminded me of a short story by H.P Lovecraft, I think it was called "The Outsider" or something like that, it was short and weird, but it had that wonderful imagery about it.

A very quiet and pretty nice song. I like the almost dark atmosphere that this song creates.

The main melody is very catchy and it fits perfectly together with the chorus that can be heard in the background. It sounds almost heroic (and dark at the same time ;) ).
I like the image Coop had in mind, with a big sailing boat. I imagined the same when that chorus set in.

I'm also looking forward to review your 100th submission! ;)

Author's Response:

Hey, thanks man! I get a huge buzz from making songs like this. I don't have the best equipment to work with to create an organic orchestra, but I like to think that I can manipulate what I have got to create something interesting.

"Sailing?"

by: Coop83
date: July 12, 2008

This one sounds like something that could accompany a trip on an old style sailing trip. Probably one that involved people rowing the boat itself, though that is probably due to the drumbeat sounding like it's encouraging the rowers.

I can see how this relates to a dance as well, with a good use of the melody that gives us something that sounds neo-classical and combines well with the beat.

Author's Response:

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I actually imagined a solitary woman dancing wild and free and alone, but the idea of a sailing tune is great, it's given me a whole new way of seeing the song, like an exploration voyage thing, go out on the high seas in search of untold fortune.
Thanks.

"Not Bad"

date: July 12, 2008

Though I'm not overly keen on this track, it just sounds a little too empty in a way if you get what I mean, that's not to say it sounds bad but in a way it does sound a little flat. It would be nice if it had a little more too it, such as a stronger background or something, just so parts stand out more, not sure what to say since I'm bad at creating music, lmao.

Anyway, on the whole it does come together well and everything does sound good which is nice to hear, it's just that there's not too much in this I don't feel, it's not something that sticks. But good work on everything with it, maybe it's just not my cup of tea, anyway, hope the 100th submission is amazing.

Author's Response:

Yeah, I agree with you. I think that I'm unable to get a rich full orchestral sound of of what I've got, and I'm not using that as an excuse, I feel that some more experience will give me more control over the tones of what I've got, but I have been tempted a few times to show a composition to maestro and see if he'd try building it up with the equipment he's got, but our styles are usually pretty different, I don't know how well something like that would work.
Cheers, man.

"Kind Of Sad..."

date: July 11, 2008

I really liked how this started out so quiet and slowly and built up power and melody throughout the song. It had a very dark, brooding feel. I wouldn't go as far as to call it evil-sounding, but I saw it as very serious and sad.
Overall, everything was put together very well in this tune. Nothing sounded out of place or off in any way. I could really see this being used in a cinema scene in a video game, or in a serious flash work. It would contribute greatly in that context as it sets a great mood, yet it fits into the background nicely without drawing too much attention.
Great job with this, I really enjoyed listening.
And be sure to request your 100th with us, too! :D

Thanks, man. Personally, I love the music in videogames nowdays, a cutscene has huge emphasis on the music to draw out the emotion.

"Soothing for the soul."

date: July 10, 2008

The harp intro was excellent. Then as the strings come in the song takes a more solemn stand. The piano comes in and lights everything up. The drums wre very well done if I do say so myself. The melodies flowed like melted butter. Great job man!!

Suggestions: I think the ending could have been a bit better. Something not too fancy but enough to satisfy the audience. Thats all

"Excellent"

by: Shanus
date: July 9, 2008

This is really nice, the intro starts off ridiculously slow but speds up slightly as it goes. The whole track is very calm and mellow, and has a very delicate feel to it. Its a very relaxing track which i could probably listen to while lying in bed at night with it raining outside. Its a great piece.
