"Rock on!"

date: July 7, 2008

The intro completey blew me away. Then it shifted into a slower mode. A nice laid back feeling to this song. Then a :50 the song tok a sharp turn, but it came back nicely. Transitions were adequately smooth. Great work

Suggestions: that sharp turn at :50 was kinda out of place. I think there could have been a better transistion.

Author's Response:

Mission accomplished. The "turn" might have been too extreme. Thanks for the review!

"Alright"

date: July 6, 2008

Hmmm, its a cool song, kinda started very quickly. And suddenly. I think you should of eased it in better, as the drums come in wildly, then settle into a slowish tune.
Its ok, feels a bit like you tryed to put too much into such a short piece though.

Good guitar and instruments though.

"Varied"

The first thing that I thought was why were the drums so fast for the start of the song? It's not like the rest of the song required such pacy drum beats.

I think that you need to stick to a few areas of this and develop the tune with the guitar more, as it feels like you've tried too many styles for the relatively short length of the tune.

Author's Response:

The intro drums are explosive. The different guitar parts are individual and doesn't have anything to do with each other. Vai is the master. Thanks for your review!

"Pretty Nice"

date: July 5, 2008

The first thing I would like to point out about this though is that the opening just seems to be a pause and then it suddenly bursts into the song, maybe work on that part. But after that everything seems to come together very well, even if you have some instuments that seem to sound a little too high pitched for my liking, lol.

You have everything coming together very well here, but it does seem to build into something a little too late, being right at the end. It does end well which is good, you just need to do that for the start and this will be perfect then, lol. Some odd sounds in this too, but all the same, it's pretty neat overall, good job.

This would work very good as a song for racing games like F-Zero or Wipeout (you know, those "future racing games" ;) ).

Sometimes the drums seem to be a bit off beat (mainly in the beginning. Later on they are fine).
Also, the guitars need to be a lot louder. They are overpowered by the drums, even though the drums aren't that loud, too.

"Nice"

Quite a cool song, even though it didn't seem to have a direction at all. But out of the nonsense there seemed to come a fairly decent song, the guitar was cool and so was the drumming. Had kind of a ghost type feel. Decent job, just needs to be tightened up a bit

Directions is for suckers. You shouldn't be able to foresee what's to come in the song!

"Cool"

date: July 4, 2008

This was certainly different. The drums in the beginnning of this were really what set the tone and gave this its rock feel, for the most part. With the electronic effects and other things mixed in here, it kinda gave it the slightest bit of a techno sound, though it was largely still a rock-sounding song. I thought that was pretty neat, that mix really made me feel like this would sound good as a hard rock video game theme. Like something from Metroid, or F-Zero.
What you have here is pretty good, but I think it would sound better if you mixed it up a bit with something different to give the listener another look to the song. Like speeding up the tempo with a quick little interlude, or even a shreddy little solo would sound good in this. :) It doesn't even need to be really shreddy, like some of the guitar parts from the Metroid themes would sound great. :P
Overall, a fun track. Very original, good work!

Originality is what i strive for. I haven't played any of the video games you mention, but i suppose it's good to be compared to them!

I usually like rock, but for some reason I just couldn't get into this song. I thought some of the stuff didn't really belong and that maybe if it were to be just a bit heavier or faster that I would of enjoyed it more. The guitar is always my favorite in audio submissions though and you did have that. Overall, not too bad, but in my opinion needs some work.
