"Good, well... great, but..."

I found it very hard to pick out any main theme, nor could I distinguish any sections, so I still can't really identify it as sonata form :/

Either way, it was still very beautifully written, you worked counterpuntal harmonies flawlessly in and out. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Author's Response:

Well, I'm using "sonata" in the original sense of "a piece which is played" (as opposed to "cantata", a piece which is sung), not in the sense of "sonata form" (this is certainly not sonata form). Although to be honest, I simply wasn't sure what else to call it. It's not exactly a fugue, except in one small section. Hey, if you have any suggestions for what else to call it, I'm all ears. :p

Yes, it was the point for there not to be any main theme; I tried to have all of the 4 voices have about equal importance, so neither one would be too dominant for any great length of time. However, there most definitely are different sections. Listen again. :) There is an "A" section in C major, followed by a "B" section in A minor, followed by a repeat of the "A" section, which goes to a Coda to conclude the piece.

Thank you for your review.

Oh well... the general population of NG doesn't usually appreciate this music.

This is well put, and you made me listen to it from end-to-end (which I don't do often).

9 and five. ;-)

Finally, a chance to use my music theory class knowledge...

Ok, flowing strings. They sound a little like real strings, but not really. Try using Edirol, maybe.

To me, it doesn't really sound baroque. We did some baroque music in choir (our teacher called it what they'd hear on the radio at that time, lmao), and it was not similar to this.

It was pretty much the same thing, over and over. Like, alot of the same thing. All that changed was dynamics. About this, the theme is not really concrete enough, or at least I can't really tell if its being repeated or not, it all flows together. I like how it sounds :)

Its not boring like many baroque pieces, you keep it interesting. Dynamics are a bit sudden, but that's OK. Overall, nice song! 9/10, 5/5
