"Failed to Meet Expectations"
date: February 13, 2008
When I first saw the title and score of this song, I was elated. "What amazing remix of Bleck's insane theme would this guy come up with?" I thought to myself. However, when the song loaded and I finally got to listen to it, I was utterly disappointed. The song struck me as a bit quiet, and chaotic at points. Also, Bleck's theme had been modified towards a worse-sounding side than a better-sounding side.
I think the main problem were the quiet parts where you had jabbing basses - those got in the way of the main theme , and slightly ruined it. Also, your instrument choice didn't please me quite much (though as seeing to the fact that it's a MIDI, it is quite impressive). There seemed to be a lack of background - most of the instruments were following the main theme, and though that was how it was done in the original, there were sound effects in the background to fill the emptiness.
In simple, condensed terms, the song was close to the original, but was warped towards a worse angle and lacked background. The instruments weren't fitting enough, but I can let you pass on that one for doing this as a MIDI. Also, there were periods of pulsating noise that covered up the good-ness of the music. Good effort, but poor experience.

Author's Response:
Totally agree!! Problem with bloody Fruity Loops, I've got no decent "normal" instruments. If I could, I'd get this sounding like a full Orchestra! But I'm stuck with techno-y sounds, so I'm stuck with this. Even though your review wasn't singing my praises, It's probebly been one of my best. You went into detail about what you did and didn't like about the song. So now I can improve upon this and make something better next time!
Keep it up!!
