"didn't deliver what I was expecting"

date: August 11, 2007

there is this wierd sound that plays during this song. At places like 0:48-0:56, it sounds like a tea kettle of sorts. A hallow whistle. I thought that came from the house, but it's from the song... once you realize it's there it's MAD annoying >:(. I don't know what it is, but if it's intentional, never again Deflektor!

The thing with this song is that it doesn't portray nearly half the energy I thought I would be hearing. It sounds alot like your other songs, oriental, and progressive, but also largely ambient. It has no definite direction, and the percussion is very soft.

I was expecting battle piece is all. In any case for future reference, an interesting thing you could try doing is layering different types of percussion to hit at the same time to create different crunch sounds. I do it a lot, timpani and Wagner Bass drum is often a great mix.

Keep up the good fight, and keep em coming!

Author's Response:

I see what annoying instrument you're talking about, it's the piccolo that plays the same theme as the violin. Is that even annoying? I must admit i'm surprised, i was expecting it to give another "color" to the sound rather than annoy the listener.

I understand this was misleading, but it isn't supposed to be a battle theme. As you said, it is my usual progressive-ambient stuff. Its more like a journey piece.

6 again?! Oh man, this is depressing. Rather than improving, it seems i'm losing my skills.
Well, serves me well, i guess. I shall do better next time!
