"Good job on the melodies. Strong mood. 7.5/10"

date: June 4, 2008

While the overall flow of the piece is a bit flat, the structure is solid, and the melodies are nice. Good job on the piano melody; I like it, although there's something wrong with the bit that plays at 0:10 where it goes high (and every subsequent time that melody is used, of course). I'm not too fond of the synth lead, but the melody is good (although it doesn't quite work against the piano all the time). It could have used a few more flourishes. I'm thinking high notes. Then again, I have a tendency to find little things to add to other people's songs. The flourishes you had were nice. I liked the really fast string of notes at 1:01 or so. 16th note triplets? The beat is constant and driving throughout. It could use a better kick sample, and that hats are on the loud side. Overall, though, this is a neat song. Good job. Oh, where's that final note? I love that decelerando at the end, but I feel there should be one more note tagged onto the end. I'm too lazy to find out what note exactly it is, but it's the same note that starts the song. Oh well, good job. Later!

Thanks, man. I may remix this, now that I know a bit more about making music. Samples weren't so great in this one. Thanks for the input!

Somthing that got me thinking was this song is way to repetitive.. or am I listening to it wrong... anyways great work!

Author's Response:

It is a bit repetitive. But have no fear--Dark Memories 2 is in the works with a bit less repetition!

"nice song feel"

date: August 4, 2007

Nice one!
The song itself could get a big "10" but ..damn..the sound quality is not perfect!
(for example the "Release" time of the piano samples)

"Heh, you're welcome. :)"

Ugh, though! What happened? Something must've went wrong with the file sending over chat, because this isn't the version I got! The kick is heavy to the point of distortion... and the hihat could be a bit quieter, right now it's fairly overpowering. Suppose there's no use crying over spilt milk, though, I suppose you should move on, leave this one behind, and start a new song.

You really got that diversity problem down! :) Great job there. You really made that lead fit. Also, kick and hihat aside, you figured out how to make that quality work! :) Great job there.

I really don't have too much else to say about it seeing as that I listened to it so many times already. But it's an improvement overall, so keep up the good work. Don't hesitate to ask me again for help if you ever need it. :)
