I enjoyed it

I enjoyed this. I thought your woodwind and brass solos were good and I also enjoyed the section around five minutes were you switched off between sections to complete one phrase. I thought it could have been a little more dynamic and I didn't really care too much for the ending but overall I thought it was a very good work.

MusicalRocky responds:

Thank you! I guess it could've been more dynamic, though there's quite a lot of dynamic variance. Ending wasn't meant to be anything special. Oh, well, glad you liked it.

Well done

A very good piece indeed. The melody is restrained, but in a good way, making this a austere but beautiful piece; I disagree that it needs to be all over the place in order to get a high score. It's very professional, and I certainly hope that you continue to make such expressive music.

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey,

I see what you mean about the melody being restrained. I guess what I did (unconsiously, perhaps) was try to express quality not through how I varied the melody, but how I presented it. That is...I might have it forte and full orch in unison (which I didn't) to give it strength, or I might use just the flutes and have it in a major key to give it tenderness and fragility.

But anyway, thanks for seeing some of what I was trying to do, and thanks for listening/reviewing! Glad you liked this,

Rocky

Cool

Nice...I liked it alot, I may even use it in one of my submissions ^^

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey, thanks a lot! :D

A little disconnected

The progression was not as enjoyable an experience as I would have expected. The themes are far too stiff; you do little else to them but a pause here, a trill there. You either remove a layer or put one on. It was frustrating that the themes never really evolved or made interesting developments.

That said, the music isn't horrible. It's very good. If you could be bothered going over each theme and really letting the music flourish rather than being so controlled, you might get some very nice pieces.

MusicalRocky responds:

In all honesty, I disagree with you...

Sorry :/

Well, I guess you still liked it? If so, then I'm glad, and thanks for reviewing.
