"Drum n Bass!"

date: June 16, 2007

This is some nice stuff. I'll start out with the drums.
Kick: wasn't loud or powerful enough.
Snare: really gritty. Just give it a little boost around 200Hz to thicken up the sound.
Hi-Perc: Good work! You hit the right middle-frequencies.
Amen: take it out. All it does is add extra noise to the background and muddies everything up. You don't HAVE to use it in every DnB song you make, you know.

Bass: The first sample needs work. the automation sounds nice, but the pitches are off in some little parts. Edit it some more tighten it up.
The second sample is really clean, though. EQ some higher frequencies into it, though. Maybe even throw on a distortion.
Work on the bassline some more. Make it more interesting and less predictable.
Pads: they sound nice, but are a little too loud. In a good drum n bass song, you should be able to keep the song running smoothly with nothing but the drums, bass, and some well-placed FX samples.

I give you 4/5 because it's one of the first real drum n bass song I've seen on the chart today.

"((VOTED 4))"

I thought it was a pretty good song but you were just going to fast for your own good. It just seamed like a chaotic blur mostly. The synth and the drums were both really good but its just at that speed they dont really flow together that well. If I were you I wouldnt change anything with the song but just lower the tempo and resubmit. But still it wasnt at all a bad song like this so Im voting 4. Good job.

Author's Response:

Thanks man, but I don't know what you mean about speed.

Drum N Bass has an average of 173-178bpm, and this is 174bpm! So for DnB, this is pretty slow. lol

It was pretty good. There's not too much wrong with it at all, I just didn't think it was the best ;)

...there's a whole lot of stuff packed into this. It's not hard to believe that there are people who've used this in their flashes...very good work.
