Interesting use of rhythmic elements and sound design. There’s a bit too much treble in the texture at :10, I think - something in there sounded especially high-pitched and harsh. Either way, the progression is really coming together by :44. The piece is still a bit minimalistic, though. I think it needed some more legato elements to fill in the texture - pads or sub-bass or something. The transition at 1:46 was also quite unexpected, and the brass at 1:55 sounds pretty inauthentic. The ending is a bit abrupt, too, but overall this is a cool and quirky piece. I don’t think you quite matched the compositional standard of some of your earlier tracks, though. My biggest problem here is still the texture - there are long sections of this piece, such as :58 - 1:45, where it feels rather empty. Nice use of harmonies, progression, and mastering, though. Keep at it, ConnorGrail! ;)

ooh this was fun stuff! reminds me of legend of zelda for no reason i can put my finger on.

i love the idea of using a staccato piano note as bass. such a fun idea! gives the whole piece a slightly non-serious tone to it =D

i felt like the mix was very dry at points

it definitely gets into something great around 2:00, i only wish you had expanded upon that idea more!

ConnorGrail responds:

Funny you mentioned Zelda, Breath of the Wild was a major influence as I was working on this one.
Glad you liked what you heard, and I definitely plan to continue developing this one outside of the contest deadline! Gotta tighten up that mix and arrangement for sure.
Thanks for the good feedback!
