This song combines old school sounding synths with modern rock sounding drums and futuristic arpeggiators.

Here's some of the gear and plugins that I used on this track.

DAW: Logic Pro X
Drums: GDD via Kontakt 5
Synths: Built-in Logic synths and some software instruments I created using the EXS24 sampler.

This is a cool start to a song. I definitely like the core melodic motif and the associated chord progression. However I have to admit that it's certainly far too repetitive as it stands right now - the song really only has two sections, as you mentioned. Furthermore, the mixing really needs some love, as all the elements need to have their volumes adjusted (the piano is way too loud, the crash is too dry, and in general the climax mix simply has too many instruments in it. Try using fewer that pull their weight more!

All in all, a cool start to a song. Try varying it up and going a little more minimalistic next time! =)

I noticed that when you described your song you said that it was a combination of old school synths and new-school drums and arpeggiators. And definitely when I started listening to your song, the thing that struck me and impressed me immediately was the sound design. The tone on the main guitar-like pad thing that carries throughout the song is great, and it fits really well with almost every other sound in this track. The track makes me feel like I'm in some sort of bleak futuristic wasteland. (Like Starcraft or maybe Chrono Trigger in the future!)

However, the sound design is not great enough to save you from the problems with the arrangement: this track feels very repetitive. Strictly speaking you do vary stuff up, like you change chord progressions and elements in the drums and stuff, but the changes are so subtle, and the things that stay the same are so large, that the song feels very stagnant.

All in all great sound design and atmosphere, but the song needs to be tightened up. Mix improvements might not be remiss too (like louder drums for instance?)
