I worked on this one as much as I could, but with my current job, I travel a lot, so I had to spend a lot of time when I was at home to work on the parts that were missing. I think I did a pretty consistent job on keeping everything balanced well while ensuring that there was a stable melody at play.

This one may not be as catchy as my other songs, but this one was designed for purely competitive purposes.

Please enjoy and thank you for the opportunity at this competition.

The piano sample at the beginning wasn’t my favorite - sounds like FL Keys, which is a pretty generic plug-in. That said, the harmonies and progression were both enjoyable here. I think the brass at :34 is a little too loud - it kind of overpowers the drums, and the snare should almost always be the loudest instrument in the mix. The piece also sounded rather minimalistic for large swaths of the track. You probably could’ve used some pads, secondary harmonies, or hi-hats. You were especially missing some tones in the upper frequency range for much of the piece. It could help if you did more with the drums in general. I also wanted to see you vary the main melodies a lot more. The piece got rather repetitive after a while, and I want you to find more creative ways of adding variety besides adding and subtracting instruments. Phrasing, dynamic contrast, filtering, and automations can all be used to really take your composition to the next level. I’d suggest you start experimenting with all of these a bit more. That said, the melodic content and cute mood of the piece were rather enjoyable. Keep at it, Zelazon! ;)
